Lews was slightly stronger than Ishmael, who was/is the strongest Forsaken. I think Rahvin and Aginor were close.
Pretty sure Rand takes out that whole shadow-spawn army that's laying siege to Rodel Itulrade without any an/sangreal; his power level went through the roof after the end of the Gathering Storm.
I could be incorrect though; I started A Song of Ice and Fire after I finished the Towers of Midnight so it's been close to a year since I picked up the series.

Unfortunately, they do not. It does have Black Dow in it who is a pretty fun character. Heroes is about a 3 day battle between the Northern barbarians and the Union. The irony of it is that none of the main characters are heroic and all in it for themselves. It's good, but I liked BSC better.
I was reading on his blog and Cosca will be in the next one and maybe even Logan Ninefingers. From Abercrombie's blog:
"Shy South comes home to her farm to find a blackened shell, her brother and sister stolen, and knows she’ll have to go back to bad old ways if she’s ever to see them again. She sets off in pursuit with only her cowardly old step-father Lamb for company. But it turns out he’s hiding a bloody past of his own. None bloodier. Their journey will take them across the lawless plains, to a frontier town gripped by gold fever, through feuds, duels, and massacres, high into unmapped mountains to a reckoning with ancient enemies, and force them into alliance with Nicomo Cosca, infamous soldier of fortune, a man no one should ever have to trust…”
I assume "none bloodier" = ninefingers

I can't believe this is even up for discussion? What's next, somebody brings Goodkind up for comparison?
Robert Jordan had a strong start to his series and he was to some degree a trendsetter and should be recognized for that. But even at his best WOT pales in comparison to ASOIAF. And after the first five books or so the series is anything but his best.

Completely disagree.
ASOIAF just gets boring to me honestly. The fact that everyone has serious flaws makes it that few characters are likeable and that makes the story less compelling for me.
Like I said in my other post I got so bored with A Dance with Dragons, I didn't even finish the whole thing. I've never come close to not finishing a Jordan/Sanderson book that I've started reading.
Honestly I think ASOIAF gets a lot more love than it should because of the show.

Dark Tower is a bit of a different animal. Isn't in the classical fantasy vein like WOT or ASOIAF. I find I am not a fan of Stephen Kings writing style, his plots, especially in DT, seem to wonder aimlessly. The first three books flew by and kept turning the pages as fast as I could, at the same time I realized what a flawed work I was reading. This became more apparent while reading Wizard and Glass which was a self contained masterpiece and made me realize how much of a dissapointment the first three books had been.

When reading Jordan I feel like i'm reading a cartoon, though an enjoyable one, while GRRM is real life. On that note reading Sanderson is like reading a videogame. WOT was so predictable, to the point where you knew when someone was about to tug their braid out. Every book for the first 5 books or so ended the same. Orphaned farmboy suddenly becomes powerful, it's a fun premise but it's been done a million times. Then of course it spiraled out of control as it got too bloated and the story came to a standstill. I blame the fact that he was married to his editor, he needed someone a little more detached that could tell him when to stop writing garbage.
GRRM left you guessing, had people throwing their books across the room. The people were flawed and felt real because of this. And i'm not the type that likes a book just because it's "gritty". Abercrombie bored me, using violence and detestable characters to cover up his lack of ideas.

I almost flunked out of high school 10 years ago the first time I read WOT. I'd stay up all night reading bc every chapter is a cliff hanger for the most part. WOT is definitely my favorite series of all time. Its a shame its way too long to ever really adapt to other mediums. Was very impressed with sandersons job so far as well.

First of all, if I wanted real life in my reading I would read historical novels.
Second, the people are too flawed in ASOIAF for me to care about them. And because I don't care about them, I don't care about the story.
I don't know, it's really just too realistic for me to be interested in it I guess. The few characters who are likeable always have terrible things happen to them and the douchebags almost always win- to the point where I feel it's UNrealistic. And it seems like everything is so stagnant in that every time the it looks like am important milestone in the war will be reached, Martin ruins it just to continue the chaos.
That's really it I think, I feel like in WoT there's always something going on that advances the main plot whereas I feel like I'm reading filler at times with Martin. There are subplots that have nothing to do with the main story and I don't care to read 30 pages about the kids having to scrounge for food or tramp their own way across the continent. Imparting that information could be done better when they rejoin the main plot at some point to become important again and you could spend 2-4 pages letting them tell their story.
I almost feel like Martin is filibustering me at times with ASOIAF, droning on and on about nothing to keep me buying.

personal opinion on WoT: first 5 or 6 books are fantastic. 7-11 were a complete drag. when Sanderson took over they are pretty good again.
GRRM books on average are probably better, but the first 5 or 6 in WoT to me are the best.
Also, GRRM in book #5 scares me that he is going the way of wheel of time. the pace slowed down to a crawl in that book.
Goodkind....haha don't get me started...I thought that was so promising when I read the first book and he kept it up for a while but wow did that series fall off a cliff. I never even read the final book.
