It's not just an average man is stronger than an average woman. A weak guy is stronger than an average woman. For example, the 5 gallon water coolers that are in some workplaces, I don't know of one male who has any problems loading a new 5 gallon water container into the cooler (about 40 lbs). I have known very few woman that can lift the 5 gallon water bottle without extreme effort, if they can do it at all.
Yes I know there are a small percentage of women that are strong as a guy, but they are the exception, not the average. There is a reason why the army has for the past decades allow women a less physically demanding minimum score to get out of basic training then they do to men. I think the fear by many of us is that the army will dumb down the requirements for front line combat troops so that more women qualify and thereby make our army weaker from this.

You imagine incorrectly. Females in the Army now are not expected to be able to keep up with the guys, their APFT or other branch PT test scores requirements are no where close to a males. I'm sure there are some GI Jane types who can max out a 19-21 male requirement (at least that was our baseline) but they don't tend to have the same day in and day out physical and mental endurance. On average, the best female is still slower and weaker than a male. I remember when talking about females given a chance to go to Ranger School there was a study on male vs female that came out. A female wouldnt make it through pre-ranger much less Ranger School.
Just my opinion based on real world interaction.
