you have an ever changing definition. "stronger to some degree, not in total leg strength" though...OK so its partial leg strength now. gotcha. you should write that one down in your crossfit manual.

    Cross-fit manuel ? good one

    oh the internet lol

Definitely with Noles on this one. I was the traditional weightlifting type then started doing crossfit because I simply wanted to be in great shape rather than be big and bulky. Crossfit combines functional use of muscle development while using an appropriate weight relative either to one's body weight or how strong they are. Crossfit has for sure kicked my butt into the best shape of my life. But if getting big is what you're into weightlifting is probably your safest bet.

we are not saying crossfit is bad. his arguments and that "its not even debatable" are ridiculous.

if you read my first post I was basically saying if you are into cardio and fitness crossfit is fine, but its not the most effective way to get stronger. Dude is insisting that crossfit will get you stronger than strength training...which is silly.

Their is no such term as functional muscle development. That means nothing. 200lbs is 200lbs your muscles do not know the difference.

roflmaoroflmao I would bet money Im stronger than you in everything, been doing cross-fit for 9 years just about

Including man to man combat which is all I care about really, especially when in the service

Being able to bench well doesn't do dick for you in the military

that is why we got rid of your traditional gyms for the most part, they still exist at some bases but are usually empty from what I hear

  • Well I'm quite a bit stronger after 4 months crossfitting. Not necessarily entirely because of crossfitting though, as I eat healthier, get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, and take all the necessary vitamins and supplements.

Please tell me how that is a terrible link. You do realize the guy that wrote that, Eric Brown has this to back it up. Never mind he probably made that all up.

Brown has a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

And I served my time in the military and I know that military has NOT gone strictly crossfit

No response to this post I guess.

  • What's with pissing contest? Everyone has a different physiology And responds to things differently. If you like cross fit then so be it. If you like weight training that's cool too. I like all of it and wish I had the time and energy to change my regimen daily or weekly.

To the OP I have read if you break your squats up to two different work outs it helps. I just recently started this. Monday I work legs and do a more weight less rep sets. Like 85-90% of you max 3-4 reps for 3-4 sets. On Fridays I usually start out with a set of 25 of just the bar and then add 10-15 pounds on each side. I try to make a set of 50. it has helped.

I stand 6' 0", and round 180 but I can press 275 lbs. I can't exactly think of any scenarios where I would have to press that amount in reality. What I meant by functional strength is that when I crossfit, I mostly use muscles that I regularly use daily (legs, back, shoulders).

Just don't even listen to these fools

They clearly have never done cross-fit and only go by what they hear or read based off of other peoples opinions

    So cool, somebody got hurt

Better stop doing it then, terrible link too

Barely said anything of substance, you can find just about anything on the internet to support you stupid argument

Just tell me why MMA and Military have gone strictly corss-fit then.... just answer me this

Must be cause the greatest warriors on this planet are idiots, yup.... lets all listen to some college boy who likely has mommy and daddy paying for everything.... his advice > real men.... no doubt

The cross fit where I live costs 150 dollars a month. Pretty rediculous price. No thanks. Especially when you can steal most of the workouts offline

one thing I would add is anyone who is effectively strength training would be hitting legs, back, shoulders hard also...there are a ton of the mirror muscle idiots out there though who curl for an hour in front of the mirror.

Amen, cross-fit works out what you need to be a better athlete or just a more fit human being

but if looking huge for no damn reason is your goal, then yes.... spend all day in the gym lifting weights

The price is no doubt the worst part, but it costs that much for good reason and you don't need to belong to a gym once you figure out what cross-fit is

I do cross-fit on my own, for free

The more he talks the more, the more I believe he is making it up about him being in the military. He is probably a high-school senior who is on spring break and loves him some crossfit.

I have never heard anyone talk like that about receiving thanks.
