Would Lebron at TE be amazing?

  • I have gone back and forth on this for some time. Say Lebron decides he is done in the NBA and wants to be a TE in the NFL how would he do? I think he would be amazing athletically but I would have to question his toughness. Physically he would be an absolute freak though.

    Yes. Jimmy Graham says hello.

  • He'd pull a Wes Welker and drop the ball when it counts nono

    IDWIW

  • Athletically he's on a different planet than any TE in the league, including Graham, but he's soft even for a basketball player. He'd be better off dropping 30lbs and trying his luck as a 6'8 235lbs WR.

    stoptothink

  • They should make him QB because you know he's looking to pass the ball as the clock runs out.

  • Ya first time he gets really hit I think he's done. Plus mentally he doesn't think he's a leader anyhow so there goes his confidence also.

  • LeBron was an elite TE in high school. Just like Allen Iverson was an elite QB, PR, KR, S in high school. The athletic ability of NBA players is ridiculous.

  • I think he would be an amazing TE. He is a freak athlete. Plus, he would have a QB to take all the leadership off his shoulders so that he could win a championship.

He'd just drop the game winning TD pass.

  • I would think his upside as a DE is higher then at TE. He could be a monster pass rusher with his size, speed, strength, and agility.

That being said having the tools and actually being good are two different things.

No way in hell does Lebron have the physical toughness to play defense in the NFL

I hear you in terms of skill set but offense would be his side of the ball no doubt

At least he has never proven such a thing in terms of physicality and pension for laying big hits

People think athletic ability always = football player

It doesn't, it helps but some just aren't meant to play football

Takes a certain kind of mental makeup and I don't think Lebron has it

I don't believe LeBron could be successful in the NFL. TE I feel like his knees would be messed up awfully quick by being tackled low.

To be a successful defender in the NFL you have to be crazy. Don't think he has that mentality.

He is in the right sport.

heres a clip of Lebron playing WR/TE. his junior year, he had over 1100 yards and 15 TDs. If he would have stuck with football, no doubt he'd be in the NFL now. He was elite in high school and seriously who is gonna guard him? If he's a TE, he's 6 foot 8 inch with a 44 inch vert and a 4.45 40. No one could guard him.

  • Ok guys, Lebron is not "soft".

Has he faded in big moments? Yes.

That said, he is one of the most physical players in the NBA. He gets the majority of his points in the paint, plays physical and effective defense, and isn't afraid to go to the floor or into the stands for the ball.

I know people don't like Lebron because of "The Announcement" and because of the series against Dallas, but to suggest he is soft is ignorant.

The NBA today is very physical, particularly in the playoffs. The defense played in the NBA today is much more physical than it was in thw 80s. The Pistons of the late 80s/early 90s ushered in a new era of physical defense that existed in the 90s with the Knicks and Heat, and in the 2000s with the Pistons, Spurs, Heat, and Celtics. Are there some players like Melo and Eliis that are soft? Yes. Is the NBA a "soft" league in general? No. They players are bigger, stronger, and faster than ever, and many teams (Heat, Bulls, Spurs, Celtics, Mavs last year) play defense with intensity and pride. Basketball isn't as physical a sport as football, but that doesn't mean that the NBA is "soft". Just my 2 cents.

    dude.

LeBron would wreck everyone. He's way to big for any DB and faster than pretty much any LB. Jump balls in the endzone would be like taking candy from a baby for him. He's got a vertical that would rank at the top of all time NFL combine #'s and at 6'8", he's got a good 6-9" advantage on anyone covering him just based on height alone.

in short, he would be such a threat receiving that teams would have to put 2 on him
