Wow John Clayton report on college coaches to NFL possibilities

  • Did not even mention Saban among his top three possibilities and most likely to bolt:

    1. Chip Kelly
    2. Bill O'Brien

    and this one shocked me:

    I haven't seen anything since the Browns rumors began. You have a link of anything in the past three weeks or so?

    I know that I'm nervous and most of it is because I haven't read any statements from him even confronting the rumors. I would love to see something though. Clayton actually said that Chip Kelly is "highly interested" in the Browns job. He almost made it sound like he was more intrigued with that job than the Eagles job.

    That is because the only people saying he is leaving are the pathetic fan bases of every other team in CFB because they are tired of getting processed by Alabama.

    If that was the case, I wouldn't have been worried. I know ESPN isn't the most reliable or anything, but a few shows started throwing his name out there after Terri made that comment about him not enjoying winning as much as he used to.

    I don't know the man and have no inside sources close to him or anything and have just been nervous about the possibility. I'm usually not the type of guy that overreacts to reports but this one has had me twitching.

  • Bill O'Brian won't leave PSU for any coaching vacancies, he understands the importance of a qb, he also understands what him leaving before the FA period will do to PSU. Next year I will be much more worried.

    Didn't say that he was even considering a jump. He only said that there were teams that he was very high on their short lists of candidates. He actually stated that Bill O'Brien just had to figure out if he wanted to stay at Penn State or go pro. He didn't lean like he knew either way. Just stated that there were jobs that he could have if he wanted to make the jump.

    Actually his stance on Brian Kelly was the exact opposite than it was for Bill O'Brien. He stated that no NFL teams had contacted him, but according to his sources, that he is looking to make the job eventually. He basically said that Kelly is looking to make the jump at some point.

    Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just regurgitating what he said on Sportscenter. You could hear what he said at the beginning of every hour until about 6 am when Sportscenter re-airs.

    Edit: We've had to hear BS about Saban leaving possibly. What do you think he is at this point down here? He already has a statue and will be right up there with Bear if he beats ND on Monday.

    I know, was just taking a shot at Clayton's "reporting."

    I'm sure he's on teams' short lists. And the possibility certainly exists that he could leave. Right now, I think he stays partially because there are a lot of other names out there who don't have large buyouts.

    Saban is going to get a hell of a raise as well if he stays. I expect him to be around 8 million a year if he sticks.
