Yankees/AL East fans thread

  • Yankees have to report to Tampa by the 20th. If Cashman can trade Burnett with the Pirates picking up a reported $13-15 million of the $33M, he's GM of the year already. Apparently, the Pirates are telling us to censored off about giving back Garrett Jones, however. The Indians offered Travis Hafner for Burnett but they pulled that off the table. I have no idea who Jorge Soler is but he sounds like a interesting prospect to stash in AA/AAA for a bit if we sign him. My ideal rotation would be:

    1. CC
    2. Nova
    3. Pineda
    4. Kuroda
    5. Hughes/Garcia/random AAA fill in not named Betances or Banuelos

  • I can't wait for the season. Yanks made some moves and the Rays are young and will be there for years but I like my Sox chances. Injuries killed us last year and Lackey (needed tommy john since may),Miller and Wakefield got 40% of the starts. All had ERAs in the mid 5s. The offense led MLB in runs and Ops despite the worst season ever from Crawford (289on base %),no production from RF (signed cody ross) and Youk missed about 40 games. Our season will come down to the top 3 in the rotation staying healthy. No more than a 15 day trip to the DL or so and Bard being much better than the 3-5 last year. A sub 4 ERA or slightly over would be great. Dice is already throwing bullpens, has lost weight and looks good. Could be back before june.

Al east thread is more appropriate (Rays Fan here). Im excited just bought opening day tickets yesterday for the Rays Yankees game. Ill be going in the next two weeks to watch the Yankees practice at Legends field. My Uncle is down from NY and wants to. AL East is going to be a biotch this year. Good thing we have the best pitching in the AL, we will need it.

This division is very tough the new Jays GM has done a hell of a job and they could make a jump then the O's have some young guys coming up too.

  • Sox fans are now represented. Unfortunately, I'm a bit behind on what's going on in the world of baseball. Slow getting into it this year but it will happen. Started listening to MLB Radio last week and planning to check out the Spring Training schedule when I get a chance this afternoon. Picking out that weekend in Florida will get me in the baseball spirit.

  • Rays are gonna be a really good team this year me thinks.

Our pitching is still way strong and we added some power bats.

Pena will still probably end the season with more K's than our pitching staff, but his occasional HR will be an upgrade and he is a gold glover at first.

the Jays GM is a good one. He should get GM of the Century award for somehow offloading those hideous Rios and Wells contracts while getting decent pieces in return. You can legitimately say that 1st-4th place in the division is wide open this year.

  • Jays are looking pretty good this year. Hitting is young and on the rise, Lawrie is going to become a legit star. Hopefully Rasmus and Arrencibia pick it up to their potential this year. Bautista will obviously be mashing.

The rotation lacks quality arms at the front though, was super pissed Jays didn't ante up for Darvish.

Bullpen which was Jays achilles heel is revamped and looking great. Sergio Santos, Fransisco Cordero, Darren Oliver, and Jason Fraser all added to the pen.

Antho is the fucking man though, every move he makes just is always kick ass.

F all that. I'll take Kotchman staying around .350 all year playing outstanding defense and getting on base twice a game over that overpaid scrub that hits .200 and strikesout 350 times. As a person, I love Carlos Pena. As a Rays fan, he is the scum of the earth.

Fvck his 30 jacks. Kotchman won more games for us than CP ever will, at a discount price.

I'd agree with you if the Rays didn't leave men stranded on base 900 times a game.

Because we have no consistency with our base knocks, HR hitters are of much greater offensive value to us.

The Rays are going to live off of strong pitching, defense, and Home Run's IMO.

Nothing better then HR hitting team.

Even though Jays have generally sucked recently, they are a fun team to watch. Jays are 1 front end arm and 1 back end away from being a legit contender.

  • Burnett turned down a trade to the Angels that would've brought back Bobby Abreu for a second tour in NY.

Watching Joe Maddon do his thing..... all the way through 2015 panic

By far our most important deal of the offseason. Madden is the best coach in baseball IMO.

  • Looks like Burnett to Pitt needs to be approved by the commish. Rumor has the Yanks picking up 20 of the 33 million and getting two low level prospects.

They wanted him gone badly. He shouldnt have rejected the deal to the Angels. Just stupid

They say he has west coast teams on his no trade bc his wife wants to stay on the east coast. I think getting out the Al east, not facing a DH 4 times in general and weaker lineups overall will help his stats. Maybe an Era around 4ish and a decent K rate.

His wife has a fear of flying and required limo trips to Toronto from Maryland when he was with the Jays because of it.

Didnt know that, makes sense then.

Not to me. LA and a chance to win or Pittsburg. My wife would suck it up for two years.

They already had a mediocre bat in Posada. shrug

Posada retired recently. Ibanez and Andruw Jones will split the DH duties when AROD and Jeter don't need days off

I know but Posada retired because there was a feel within the organization he wasnt wanted back the Yanks. Ibanez imo is not that much of an upgrade over Jorge.

Ibanez essentially was the lesser of the DH evils still out on the market aka the cheapest. I wanted Damon but his biggest sin is having Boras as his agent. Boras doesn't really like the Yankees (the team doesn't like him back much either) and will extract his pound of flesh from Cashman when Cano is due for a new contract, which is next year. Somehow we're still interested in Chavez when Bill Hall and Russell Branyan are miles better and less likely to get hurt.
