The more guaranteed seats you have the more likely you are to have career politicians who don't give a shit about getting any real things done. They gather large war chests from lobbyists and just stick to the fringes. They aren't challenged and if they are, it's in the primaries that just keep them moving away from the center. You get more douches like Nancy Pelosi and John Boehner.

Yea. It's going to be hard. I don't think they'll ever do it to themselves. It would have to take something extraordinary for it to happen. It will be a great day when term limits come to Congress.

Shows that the number of congressmen that are actually willing to cross the aisle and work with the other party have been more than halved in the last 20 years. Shows what most already know, that our legislative branch is broken (not that the other 2 branches are well oiled machines by any means though).

They could grandfather themselves in for all I care, but this needs to get done.

6 terms for a member of congress and 2 terms for a senator. 12 years apiece. Plenty of time.
