Not sure about the surprise... but the biggest bust (both in MSU history and in NFL history) has to be Charles Rogers.

Don't forget tony mandrich. #2 pick in the draft. He flopped on his face bigtime. So u have the 2 biggest flops ever. Congrats!

Mandrich is 3rd behind Ryan Leaf and Jamarcus Russel in all time draft busts...

    Bust - Jamal Reynolds/Ernie Sims

    Surprise - Anquan Boldin/Lorenzo Booker

Booker - cause I never thought he would last this long

Boldin - hated him at FSU and never thought after a 4.7 40 that he would win rookie of the year and break records starting as early as game #1

    Probably missing some good ones

If anybody says Peter Warrick you are dead to me

  • For Miami

    Bust:
Our entire D Line drafted in 2003. Five guys two of them first rounders and I can't remember a single pro play made by any of them.

    Surprise:
Frank Gore, not that he's been good but that he's been able to stay on the field.

MJD balling out in the League was a surprise to UCLA fans? No wonder USC fans look down their nose at you guys.

Also, Stokes was a decent ballplayer in the League - not the next Jerry Rice, but certainly no bust, either.

MJD was a very late 2nd round pick who is all of 5'6", who had 1yr of rushing over a thousands yard...BARELY. Everybody thought he was talented, nobody thought he'd be a 3x pro bowler and maybe the best RB in the league. You got a better one a$$hat?

Stokes was the 10th pick in the draft. Eventually became almost decent, culminating in a monster 1997 season where he had over 700yrds receiving. In 1999 he was rated as the entire league's least valuable receiver http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2005/1999-dvoa-ratings-and-commentary. He was the best WR in UCLA history and became a journeyman possession WR in the NFL. Yes, that is a bust.

The miracles of modern chemistry. You could get a PHD off what Matthews took to make the NFL.

Lmao at you. The entire nfl is a science project but nice try. I'm sure your boy uncle Phil would NEVER supply PEDs with his superior ethical history.

You're right though, Clay Matthews just didn't have the genetics or morals that Casey did.

    +1

Anybody who saw Clay play at USC was not surprised by his success in the NFL

He was a surprise at USC but not the NFL

That kid was amazing to watch at USC, one of the most fun LB's to watch play I have ever seen

Troy Polamalu came to USC without one scholarship offer from anywhere else...Clay at least had one from Idaho, lol.

Troy was offered to USC because of his Trojan great uncle, Kennedy Pola (he since changed it back to the original Polamalu) asked (then HC) Hackett to take a look. The ONLY thing Hackett did of worth at USC.

I'm not voting for Leinart until he's out of the league without starting somewhere again. I'd say based on expectations Reggie has been as big a bust.

I know Ryan a little and his success doesn't surprise me. He acts laid back but is a pro in every respect. Matt Cassell would be my vote for biggest surprise out of USC. Two snaps in four years and he's a starter in the NFL.

    This.

Ryan Kalil had an amazing USC career, a 3* guy who started for the first time on that great 2004 team, what many don't know or acknowledge is, that offensive line were all first time starters, except Fred Matua. The RT protecting Matt's blind side was pulled from the JC ranks (Deuce Lutui) when Winston Justice was suspended for the year. The center is the QB of the offensive line, and Ryan had everything to do with it ending as one of the best in the country by the end of the year. No surprise in how he is doing in the NFL, per exactly the reasons UR states.

My surprise would be Brian Hartline though he's kinda fallen off lately.

Mandarich actually became a decent OG once he ended up in Indianapolis, in fact I believe he made the Pro Bowl one year. Had a way better career than the likes of Akili Smith and Cade McNown.

I agree with this except take a little exception with Cadillac. He put up monster numbers his rookie year. He just got injured and couldn't recover.

I mean, no one hates calling Cadillac a bust more than I do. You're right, he was amazing his rookie year. I don't think anyone ever questioned his talent. Sadly though, the fact is that people had injury concerns about him and they were right to.

All that said, I think he would have been at least a 3 or 4 time Pro Bowler without injuries.
