Your team's top 5 players for 2011...

  • For AU:

    1. Mike Dyer
    2. Emory Blake
    3. Phil Lutz
    4. T Bell
    5. Corey Lemonier

We are going to be very good at the skill positions, but have issues with depth and youth on the lines.

  • I can't just do 5. I think OU is loaded on both sides of the ball so I'll try to just do 5 for each side of the ball.

    No order

    Offense
    1. QB Landry Jones
    2. WR Ryan Broyles
    3. WR Kenny Stills
    4. RB Roy Finch (out of the stable of OU backs I think he emerges as the top guy this year)

It's amazing the talent yall have year in year out. I know saban was at an advantage with his rep and the schools tradition but he does an amazing job of recruiting. Our board regularly has threads about 3 stars turning out to be better then hi 4s and 5s but bama is a prime example of what a two deep roster filled with these 4s and 5s will do. I think bama has become so dominant bc their players have to scratch and fight every practice to become a starter. Your team will always be better when the two and three deep guys are pushing your starters to be better. I think South Carolina has more talent on our two deep then we have ever had. Not comparing us to any elite teams just think there is progress in that department. Ive been pleased with Garcia's production (on the field) the past couple of yrs but wouldve like to see how much better he would be if he had some one legitimately pushing him for his spot.

Im not a big fan of Smith just yet, he is a great deep threat but needs to improve in many areas.

To be honest though Im not too crazy about either one, I can see how you could pick whichever one as the best WR.

  • For UF overall its hard to say because our 2010 class was so amazing, but this is the year they really get to play alot. This list is based on potential, and what us fans have heard and seen from the offseason programs, spirng practice, the HC talk, and our spirng game. There were a few of our insiders that sat in on practice most days..

    Sharrif FLoyd DT soph
Ronald Powell Buck position (same as Bama's Jack LB. OLB/DE in UF's 3-4 scheme) soph
    Dom Easley DT soph
    Chris Martin SSDE RS freshman
    Matt ELam SS soph

All five stars from the 2010 class, all starters on the depth chart this year. Floyd could be the best ever at UF, and it really could happen as early as this year. Kid is as big, fast, strong, DT as I've seen at UF.

    Offense

Matt Patchan OT jr when healthy
Jordan Reed TE soph. Great speed, and hands. 6'4 252 a little small. VERY similar to A. Hernandez
Quinton Dunbar WR freshman. Emerged as our top WR this spring. Gonna be a great one.
Mike Gilly RB junior averaged 8 yards a carry, always scored in red zone, injured too much so far. Beast
Jeff Demps RB senior. What a weapon he and Rainey will be in WEis offense.

Some I did based on potential, and probably most of our best players are coming up this year as first year starters, but didn't want to make the whole list out of them. Obviously, Jeff Driskel, Mack Brown, Andre Debose, AC Leonard (really good spring game) would all be tops on the list of potential. This time next year, these players will all be on this list. We have less than 30 juniors and seniors combined on the team, so everyone is pretty much a one or two year player at this point. Tons of young talent at UF. In fact, more 5 star players than any roster in the SEC, second most four stars behind Bama, and least 3 stars in the SEC. Not that rankings mean everything, but this roster is more loaded than all but three or four others in the entire nation.

I'd say roster talent and potential wise, only these teams even compare.

    Bama
    LSU
    USCw
    UTex
    OU
Maybe FSU (getting there after last years haul, one more and they are right there with all these other teams) In this case, its all about the coacing staffs. UF showed last year how lost great talent is with poor coaching. Same with FSU for ten years under Bowden. This new staff is as elite as it can be on paper. Can't wait to see what they do with all our speed, and overall talent. Any of the teams up top could win a title in any given year. Its about great coaches, cohesiveness, team chemistry, and a little luck. Also schedule plays a huge role too

  • Spurrier is definitely bringing in some good talent. He has the program going in the right direction.

The thing about Bama is Saban will play a true freshman over a junior or senior. All jobs are up for grabs every year. CJ Moseley who will probably end up being our next great inside linebacker came in and played in almost every game last season as a true freshman.

I think both Rodney and Willie are very good but not great.

However, I think EJ Manuel favors Rodney Smith, so he will see more balls.

  • OK here's mine for the Vols but, let's be honest, we're still very young. We looking at another 6-6 probably.

I actually think your Vols have a chance of winning 7 or 8 games. I just hope they give Dooley a chance to get things going. I really think he can do a good job if he given the time.

I actually think both Willie and Rodney will have big years. Their best attribute is the fact that both are big time deep threats with their size but Ponder practically never went deep.

EJ will throw deep to both of them and i think you will see their number of 15+ yard receptions double this year.

Agreed, still not in love with them but I do agree

Very excited to see what you're saying cause if it happens our offense could explode in other areas

I just wanna see Smith be more aggressive in his pursuit of the ball in air and Willie needs to just add some strength
