Zeke Pike gone from AU

  • Per AU site...shocker...couldn't see this coming (sarcasm)...

    Curious what Barton, and the staff think. You guys caught a lot of (unwarranted) grief when you dropped him from 5 to 4 stars, then to 3.

    Kid turned me off with his Twitter wars with Bama fans from the get go...not what you want from your future QB.

    Personally I hope JJ is the QB we need him to be.

    So that leaves AU with just 2 freshmen QB's signed in the last 3 classes? Ouch. Getting the 2 they did for '13 was huge.

    That leaves us with Frazier (true Soph), Clint Mosely (bum shoulder) and Jonathan Wallace (true fresh).

    You are correct, getting 2 was huge for 13. Have to think the coaches knew ZP wasn't going to work out. I'd say getting Wallace at the last minute was huge in retrospect.

    Still waiting on Barton....

    Auburn will be better off. Hopefully Zeke Pike gets it together.

  • Auburn's QB situation is pretty f'ed up. Our depth may be an issue right now but at least we've got a proven starter who will likely be back in 2013. Auburn has Frazier who hasn't proven anything other than he looked like shit throwing the ball last year, Mosley who is just God awful, Pike is now gone, and then some freshman/soon to be freshmen who weren't exactly elite QB recruits. Could be good but could also be looked at as projects (especially Smith and Wallace). Worrisome.

    I said he hasn't proven anything other than he looked like shit throwing the ball last year. Did he...or did he not...look like shit throwing the ball last year? He has proven THAT. And that is my point. He will improve, I'm sure, but I mean...the passes he threw last year were just SO bad that I can't believe he'll ever be a great passer. We'll see though.

    Still, your QB situation is f'ed. If Frazier sucks it up this year which is very possible, or gets hurt, then who do you go to? Mosley is absolutely terrible. There's no way that Wallace kid will be ready as a true freshman marginal recruit. If AJ goes down then we're screwed too but again, at least we already know he can win big games as long as he's healthy.

  • I think the key is Fraizer developing. I thought that against good teams the offense got worse with Moseley. Frazier brings another element, which is useful against the pressure any quarterback in the SEC will face.
