Honestly, how much hubris does it take to believe that, of all the religions that have ever existed, currently exist, or will ever exist, your current interpretation is the "right" one?

One of the major questions that Christians simply can not answer. You can not claim a faith and at the same time admit how much self interest it requires to do so historically.

You have no proof that they didn't. As I've stated before, God works in crazy ways.

Also, how does this apply to the Egyptians? The Greeks? The pre-Christian Romans? The Incas? Etc.? We KNOW they worshipped things like the sun and the moon and we KNOW they worshipped multiple gods. Clearly they had no idea. So what happened to them?

Evolution still will never explain where morals came from and are they constantly changing?

Dude, your questions get more simplistic and ignorant by the page. Seriously!? The "we have purpose, what's yours" debacle and now this.

Ssshhhh! As Christians we try not to think about those things. It's best to ignore certain things or just make sh!t up.

This is why I actually tend to sympathize with Christians more who think the Earth is 6,000 years old and everyone was religious.

If you subscribe to evolutionary theory (which you should - it's pretty damn obvious), then humanity has been around for anywhere between 100 and 150k years. Jesus came about 2,000 years ago. The OT was written at the earliest about 6,000 years ago.

In those 94,000+ years, all of humanity lived until their mid 20's (if they were lucky) then died of gum disease. They froze every winter, boiled every summer. Many died during childbirth, either a baby or a new mother. Many more starved. Many more were killed by plagues (malaria is a huge one here).

Meanwhile, heaven watches. Not really caring. Finally, god says, "Oh, we should stop this!" So who does he contact. A bunch of illiterate slaves in the middle east. Not the Chinese or Japanese, who could have written this down. What does he do? He kills a bunch of innocent Egyptian children, then leads the slaves to their holy land, which happens to be the only place in all the middle east with no oil.

    Smart plan....

You have the internet, it takes two seconds to google "Drake equation." This opposition to the elevation of discourse is ridiculous - people don't want to hear about anything unless they already know and understand what it is. Hooray for anti-intellectualism.

I made it clear in my first post in the thread, wasn't here to learn, teach, argue, or convert any of these heathens. Just along for the ride.

"This opposition to the elevation of discourse is ridiculous " Do you guys seriously talk like this in everyday conversations?

I could say the same for you.

When I'm presented with enough evidence to believe something. I'll believe it. Just an exercise in futility otherwise.

Obviously it won't. It's a scientific theory about the variability and niche-relationships of life on earth.

My rootbeer float won't tell me what is good and wrong, but it still exists.

I'm sorry, would you prefer I put it in simpler terms? "Stupid people wanting everyone else to be as stupid as them are silly."

Seriously, the term "elevated discourse" is a relatively well-known academic term colloquialism. I assume "opposition" isn't too big of a word for you to use in everyday conversation. Forgive me if I take an interest in choosing my words carefully to properly express my meaning.

    What are morals?

Coming directly from the dictionary ...A person's standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do.

I would say no. And we would discuss and use rationality to come to a solution.

They are innate. You know, intrinsically, that murdering your neighbor so you can bang his wife is wrong. You'd know this if you were born a Christian, Jew, Hindu, Muslim or jungle Pygmy. If you require a set of laws handed down to Moses to know these things, you are a sociopath.

How does a dog know how to lick his balls? Why does a cat chase birds when it has all the canned goodness it wants?

Do not believe fossils prove evolution. No gradual changes from one type of species to another in the fossil record. No “inconceivably great” number of transitional forms. No, the fossil record is not evidence.

Yea I have te same feeling for the bible. A book filled with a bunch of guys who claim to know these stories all written from a span of a few hundred years of the actuall event. Pretty sketchy to me but hey people belive it either just from not knowing or they just don't care. The evidence of the bible vs the evidence of fossils and scientific research.......hmmm I'm goin with science

Or Christians who bomb abortion clinics. Or Christians who participate in the wars in Iraq/Afghanistan.

We don't need to go to the 12th century to see examples where Christians think killing people is okay.

Because in a world based off natural selection we are all fighting to be the one not selected. In a world based off of this, there are no morals. Just survive!!! That's the goal. Even Darwin himself said he would not want to live in a world based off this. Sorry, never saw your question.
