  • I can see him entering the top 10, but he seems too weak to take Strom. A man that could do 100 push ups at age 95 and never met a woman intern that did not sit on his lap for a picture. He is a hero of mine.

    He can't do that. It must pertain to the bill or in this case confirmation. War and Peace would be hard to pass.

    Yeah but after hours of talking making cogent arguments becomes very difficult to do. He is going to need something to read to pull him over the finish.

    When he got over 98, he should of retired but did not. He once asked a question in a committee meeting and the person asked him to repeat it and he said "thank you for your response". he was out of it but still a great senator.

    The history of the senate is a great thing that people are trying to destroy. Did you know that the senate was elected by the general assemblies of each state until 1913. The house represented the people, the senate the states. The filibuster was 75%, bc that is what it took for the constitution to be changed. It was changed to 60% later on.

    He does, I think he is saying that it is sad it came to this.

    The United States Senate is probably the greatest legislative body in the world, and likely greater , if not in power, but in substance and procedure, than it's namesake from the Roman Republic.

    If the Dems get their way it will be nothing more than a glorified House. It is the only major legislative body I know of that allows the minority a significant say, which is why bills out of the Senate are almost always more bipartisan and moderate than out of the majority dominated House where the minority has basically no say at all.

  • IDK what's going on now. Some Senator on Fox said that he actually can't go to the bathroom even during "questions". I wish there was somewhere to find out about all of this. I am obsessed with this story now.
