best baseball player of all time

who do u think is the best of all time and y?
im going with joe dimaggio. he did so much in such little time. played 13 seasons. 2214 hits in 6821 ab's. thats career .325 hitter, 361 hr, 1537 rbi. 3 mvp, runner up twice. missed 3 years, possibly at his peak, bc he was drafted for ww2. oh yeah and he had that hit streak of 56 games. also the game after the hit steak ended, he started a new hit streak of 17 games

the idea that hank aaron hit that many home runs without the juice amazes me. I think Willie Mays is a close one too due to all the tools he brought to the table

Ted Williams is a good choice for #2
If Mickey didn't drink like a maniac he would have been my #1 probably, he just didn't take care of himself to put up the numbers he was capable of
Griffey falls into this too but it wasn't his fault, Griffey with no injuries likely makes a run for my #1
Ty Cobb and Pete Rose probably round out my top 5 fielders/hitters

Barry Bonds would be the correct answer if he hadn't taken PED's.
Only player to win 7 MVP's, only player in the 500/500 club, most walks, most intentional walks
My choice would be Babe Ruth though.

I'll go Dimaggio as well... Griffey my favorite, him and Hank but I'd take a skill hitter over power hitter... 56 game hitting streak is amazing.

Barry Bonds would still have been able to mash without steroids, he wouldn't have had the same amount of home runs, but his average would still have been high and would still have a good amount of home runs. Hank Aaron and Willy Mays were two of the greatest of all time, so weren't Babe Ruth and Ted Williams though. It's hard to determine who is the best simply because the game changes so much decade to decade, and some of those great players would probably be average in todays day and age.

Oh, I'm in complete agreement. He was a HOF'er before PED's. Probably would have 3,000 hits if he hadn't been intentionally walked so many times. Probably would have over 600 HR's as well. He was very consistent in the home run department. Only year that jumps out is when he hit 73.

Definitely needs to be in the discussion. He still made good contact with the ball, which separates him from most of those PED using mashers.

This. Bonds would've been the best player ever even without the roids, but I can't pick a cheater.
I'm gonna say it's between Mays and Ted Williams for me.
Mays was amazing on defense and had speed in his prime.
Williams was the best pure hitter ever IMO.
