Agreed about Young and Johnson
Aaron not as much of an all around hitter as the others, power for sure, Bonds, no ~ juice.

Aaron is actually one of the best all around hitters of all time. He hit for power, hit for a ton of extra base hits, and was a RBI machine.

And Bonds wasnt very far off from having 3,000 hits. Bonds is a strong candidate for best ever. Any guy that wins 7 MVP's is hard to top. He had a 20 year career. The majority of it was clean.

Babe Ruth because the numbers he put were far superior to anyone else of his era. Evrybody else mentioned had other players put up similar numbers during their eras

Went back and checked again, lifetime average 23 years .305 pretty impressive...I stand corrected. His is in.

Aaron has always been way undervalued as an all around hitter, I guess because his press has always focused on the HR's. That said, I always have to give the nod to Ted Williams. Just stupid good. Would have easily had close to 700 HR's if he hadn't missed like 5 years of his career for WWII and Korea.

Ty Cobb should get some consideration as well, one of the best contact hitters of all time and was a beast on the base paths.

I believe it was something in the mid 80s range, but the breaking balls were nasty because of cheating by putting foreign substances on the balls and scuffing the surface.
I would also like to say I don't buy Walter Johnson throwing in the upper 90s, just no way possible especially the way he pitched. He had no windup or step and just slung his arm back like he was skipping rocks, it is almost physically impossible to throw upper 90s without taking a step or having a follow through.

Exactly, the pitching and defense lead to a lot of awesome batting averages, Ruth took it too another level with his power though.

If Miguel Cabrera keeps up his pace, he could eventually be in the discussion of one of the best players of all time. Trout and Harper could also be in that discussion if they keep progressing and stay healthy.
