big green egg smokers?

anyone have one. I just went to a demo of theirs and I have been thinking of getting one off and on for years..
Worth the price? What do you think of them
I have a chargriller smokin pro sidebox right now and am thinking of getting a Webber smoky mnt because its easier to break down and light for tailgates.
never used a ceramic but people swear by the big green eggs

My dad has two and he loves them. He said they're tricky to cook on coming from a weber but once you get it, they're the shit. He still has the weber too...godamnit i need to go home.

Get a Primo. They are just as good if not better and are American made. If you get a BGE instead you just are a bad American.

love the egg as we bought one used from a guy moving out a year ago and i love it ; doesnt have the same flavor as cooking on a grill but still really good

I opted for the Weber Bullet. When I did the research before buying most people swore by the Bullet, Big Green Egg was always mentioned prominently though. And turning it into a pizza oven only cost me about $15. I don't regret the buy at all and I make some really good pulled pork.

Look into the Primo. Looks about the same and the prices are not terribly different. I would be more comfortable going with a big green egg if i decide to go ceramic.
More support, more accessories, south east company and the local BBQ store is a supplier of them.

My brother got one in April and we have been eating good every weekend since. Cannot go wrong once you get the temps right. Best pork butt I have ever eaten.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been. Spiral out. Keep going.

It is pricey...$700 + vs. $ 100 for a Weber...have cooked and eaten food off both and enjoyed the results of each.If ya got the bucks, get an egg, if not LEARN to use your Weber

Yes, they are worth the price. Ceramic will never rust or wear out.
They are heavy bastards though. I wouldn't want to lug one around to tailgate parties.

I've had a BGE for 4 years now and love it. I wish I had bought a Primo though. The BGE is made in Mexico and the Primo in USA. I've got a friend who bought the Primo and loves it. If the BGE has any advantage over Primo it might be accessories. Hope this helps.
