By the end of the year probably 12 android phones will be in front of it. 3(maybe 4) are now

My 2 year old Galaxy s2 has pretty much identical specs

Customization typically equals going to the AT&T or Verizon store and requesting to reset the phone because "Dude, I F#%Ked it up..."

You can customize an iPhone, but they do make so you cannot completely f- it up.

Know many guys at work with Droids that bitch because the phone crashes and is prone to jamming when using multiple applications.

It's a phone not a Football Conference or a Political Party that you have to sh!t all over because it is the one you do not have. Fanboy has skippy in the cupboard and comes on here shitting on Peter Pan because Skippy spreads better in his opinion on sandwich bread.

You sound very ignorant on this subject. There is so much that doesn't make sense in your post I'm just going to skip replying to it with anything substantial.

  • You guys do know that it's one company working against many right, one phone against many? That competition and drive is what makes these phone's specs so much better. The funny thing is that Apple really doesn't give an ish because their revenue stream doesn't have to worry about this completion. The majority of the market cares about accessible functionality. Apps, iPod, social status etc.

thast not true at all. its nearly impossible to brick phones these days.

the only way to get the most out of an iphone is to jailbreak it, and thats fact. i love both, but you really are coming off like a fanboy.

Let's not forget the horrible battery life now.

that was my biggest complaint with my droid. mine was mostly bc of the screen. my iphone kills my droid battery life, but my droid was 3 years ago lol. im sure its a bit better now.

obviously both of you haven't used a top of the line android in the last year or so. my year and a half old nexus s4g lasts about a day and a half. the new iphone will have pretty bad battery life due to having a larger screen with LTE and only increasing the battery 10ma from the 4s battery.

another point on android is that it features true multitasking. iOS does not. android has to account for a lot more going on but at the same time it is a lot more powerful.

  • Would you guys say that Apple or Android has the better market?

Android is pretty bad for apps if you don't have it rooted imo.

IPhone has better apps by what I've heard and had hands on experience with.

If you have to ask, that means you have no experience with android, and are just being a fan boy. If you would actually sit down with an android, work with it and explore the capabilities, you would know that iPhone is store brand while android is the real thing.

Lets not even go into the specs of the phones in which Google dominates the market.

Not ignorant - Think it is f-ing retarded that you are on a football message board shitting on a Billion dollar company's product that has increased its sales 28% for iPhones and Ipads into 3rd qtr 2012. It is hard for me to sit and look at stock market shares and transfers then come to a football message board and see your "self indulged" jerk off session over a phone and how one phone is so "SEC" and the other phone is so "Big East"

i think apps are done better for apple, but android has a ton more and a lot for free. the customization apps for android blow apple out of the water (im not sure apple has any). also different text messaging apps for android are better.

but run of the mill apps like facebook, twitter, PNC, etc seem to be better looking and functioning on apple, IMO.

but keep in mind, apple market is very strict.

well the galaxy nexus is a year old phone for one. but the main point of why i tend to buy nexus is that nexus is not altered in any way by your carrier or manufacturer.....Nexus branded phones are Google's from the factory version of Android. And they get updates from Google, not your carrier. So you get updates as soon as Google creates them, no waiting.

then again, if you are OK with replacing your ROM and kernel on your phone then updates don't even matter......you just put whatever you want on the S3. for instance right now there are multiple S3 ROMS out there of JellyBean that are available before Samsung has even created the official ROM of JellyBean. (doing this isn't hard at all, i've done it over 50 times on my phone)

i rooted my droid and messed with that stuff all the time. didnt realize that phone was a year older. it would be nice to not have a phone bogged down with pointless apps your carrier gives you. does the nexus avoid those? like "places" and "news & weather" etc?

i cant upgrade till february anyways cry

The Nexus S saw good improvements to the battery life as software updates fixed problems, but when that sucker was new you couldn't get half a day out of it. My Galaxy Nexus is the same way. There's nothing inherently flawed about the hardware or battery designs, it's all in the software build.

install setCPU. set up a screen off profile. set up a screen on profile governor. the phone will last much longer.

the only apps on a nexus phone are the ones google put there. none of them have anything to do with your carrier.

Agreed on the more apps and nice free ones. It's just hard to find great apps for certain ones that you want. I agree that Iphone has better put together apps.

Seems like an awfully lot of work on a user's part to get a normal usability experience, wouldn't you say?

yes. thast why both OS have their positives and negative. both are awesome and both have their flaws.

it really just depends on what you are looking for in your phone. me, personally, i use it like a laptop. id be better off getting a tablet lol.

that's talking about a phone that is turning 2 years old in Dec. with a 1400 ma battery. the new S3 has a 2200 ma battery and a more efficient proc. you wouldn't have to worry about it. and if you really need battery life get the razr HD MAXX. 3300 ma battery will last for at least 3 days on one charge.

I have given iPhone props for what Apple does well. They target a user that wants something simple, easily accessible, and really just easy to use. There is nothing wrong with that. Like I said, my Grandma got an iPhone 4 about a month ago, and I'm glad the iPhone was available for her to get.

On the other hand, Android is better for the more technically inclined user that wants more out of their phone. Anyone that has owned both will agree with everything I just said.

You act like Google is some slouch with no money. Google and Apple own the market, and they appeal to two different fan bases. I like to do a lot with my phone, and I like the customization. I also like the screen size. I have the Note which has a 5.3" screen. Perfect for me because I surf the web a lot on my phone. Android is perfect for me after owning both.

  • I'm not getting into this android vs apple argument. I'm apple all the way. However, it seems like the phone would be really awkward by getting taller and not wider. It already seems awkward holding my iPhone 4 after holding my gf's galaxy nexus. Idk how I feel about the demonsions. Wished they would of made it wider as well.

I feel the same way. Personally, I think the current dimensions feel the most ergonomic.

I disagree. I have relatively large hands and feel the width is perfect when i just use one (thumb). It's hardly getting taller, at least not so much where it would be awkward to hold.

  • Let me ask you guys this...without getting into a debate...I've had an iPhone for the last 5 years and love it. The only thing I don't like is the size.

I was really looking forward to buying the iPhone 5, but the size and demonsions have me second guessing it.

My questions are on the actual phone, not the software etc. Samsung phones have always just seemed cheaper. I listen to my gf's nexus on speaker phone and it sounds garbled compared to my iPhone. The volume and speakers between the two arent even close. Mine blows her out of the water.

I like the screen size of hers, but my screen looks sharper and brighter. I can't even read her phone on a sunny day on max brightness.

These are the things that concern me. Android guys, what say you? Specifically if I were to get gs3
