He used to sell autographs for money to give to the NFL players fund for guys that played before there was a retirement fund.

I bought one just because of that.

Wow, that's cool. That guy must be a class act. I was 10 or so at the time, that kind of thing wasn't exactly on my radar. That said, I'm a huge Raiders fan and the autographed photo of him sacking Steve DeBerg is probably my most treasured possession.

  • I've met almost every member of the Red Wings from about '98 onward. (My family has been season ticket holders for now approaching 70 years)

My family knows Steve Yzerman and have been to summer parties at his place in the Windsor area.

My dad is a friend of Bobby Orrs since when they played in the OHL against each other. I see him about once a year or so and my dad keeps in touch with him.

Also have met Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, Ike Reese, Asante Samuel, Danny Briere, other flyers that I cant remember (not a big hockey fan). Saw Carlos Boozer the other day

  • Prince used to be my neighbor when we lived off Lake Riley in Eden Prarie, Minnesota.

Unfortunately, I never got to play hoops with the cat.

  • Ma Dukes raised Edgerrin James' brother. Ed came and hung out with us in the quarters a few times while he played for the Colts.

Now here's a "six degrees" moment.

I sat next to Steve DeBerg in two classes at Fullerton College. We worked on an environmental biology project together.

  • Neighbors with Ray Lewis, Joe Flacco, Ed Reed, Ray Rice, Torrey Smith, Michael Oher, Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata, Ed Dickson, etc, etc. Pretty much over half of the Ravens. They all live in muly neighborhood. The practice facilities are within minutes from my house. I always see them at local delis, coffee shops and Ruth Chris alot. I knew Johnny Unitas very well. My older brother played hockey with his eldest son Joey and I played hockey and was friends with his younger son Chad. Jim Palmers daughter used to babysit me so I know Jim pretty well. I've met alot of the great O's players because I'm close friends with the son of Ron Shapiro. Oh and Cal Ripken called the cops on a field party that I was at. The field part of his property. I got arrested for a controlled substance :( Thanks Cal. He's still the man though. How's that for name dropping? That's just sports icons. I used to travel with the Grateful Dead so I have met my share and partied with alot of musicians.

...who have you met, hung out with, live near, etc?

Nobody too famous for me, just found out one of the guys from slipknot, Chris fehn aka picklenose lives about 6 houses down from me, haven't met him yet cause he's touring.

Met Joey kocur (long time Detroit redwing and "blues brother" with Bob probert) couple weeks ago at clubhouse in our neighborhood. His hands/knuckles are JACKED

I used to be a server at glenmoor country club and that is the place where a lot of the football players and tv crews stay for the HOF game and ceremonies. I was helping out the bartenders and got to meet Rich Eisen, Mooch, Dion Sanders, Schefter and one other black fellow who's name i couldn't recall. Also tiger woods and his ex wife came to eat where i served. I wasn't his waiter but it was pretty cool just to see that dude

The weddings they have there are truly amazing. I would always sneak down when i wasn't busy to grab some leftovers. They had so many functions there with so much wasted good food. Had our senior prom there as well and it was just great. I really hated working there tho, it was cool seeing the celebs but all the local big wigs were complete asshats. The only people that made you feel like a worthy human being were the out of towners, man did they tip well. I have a hard time dealing with arrogant richies that won't give you the time of day. Happy to be blue collar.
