Doesn't matter. He's not going to Miss St.

And he will leave almost immediately upon arrival in Stankville.

Seriously, if he does not commit to USC, it will be Tenn IMHO.

  • USC should be worried about any school in the SEC really

But Tennessee is not really in the picture. I think he ends up at Vandy, Alabama, or sticks with USC

    It's USC Bama

    This^^^

    1. USC
    2. Bama
    3. Vandy

I think if he does not jump on board at Alabama he may not have room this class. Which may be what he is doing, remember his family is wanting him to stay close to home, but he committed to USC for a reason. He might stick with USC by default.

  • Y'all are being naive to think miss state doesn't have a chance to pull this guy. The only visits he has set up are usc and miss state at this point. He already visited Florida.

  • I'll understand if Ramsey goes to an SEC team, but I'll cry if he leaves USC for Mississippi State. At least go to Bama, Florida or one of the Tennessee schools.

  • Miss State could get into the top group, but could also help his family push a decommittment from USC. If that happens I will think Miss State for really giving Alabama a good shot at him.

But im not naïve at all. Miss State has its shot, do I think it will be enough...nope. Will it help Alabama that he is going to Miss State...yes. Everything at this point is looking like a task to keep Jalen close to home. If his family wins over his commitment to USC, hometown Vandy, and mainly Alabama will be the core 2 at the top. Miss State would be in there with Florida at this point. Things will change but if he ends up close to home Vandy has a really good chance IMO.

But I think we end with:
Bell- has been to almost every home game
Tunsil- he want to play with Derrick Henry, and just needs to get his mom on campus (Texas A&M game)
    Liner- Yeldon all over again
Ramsey/ or Cook - We need another true CB and one will be a switch. IF not we will do everything we can to try and get back in the race with Alexander who is all over the place really.

I think it will be between USC and Vandy...I really think this is a private school kid, and he's looking at good academic schools. I think we win out because of the football tradition factor, and the fact he wants to leave home...his family seems to be very supportive, but we'll see.

*Jalen's official visit to USC will be his last one, on January 18th..a huge recruiting weekend for USC, with most of our firmly committed guys in attendance.

Is this like being naive to think miss state had a chance to beat Bama?

If Von Bell gets pulled from Tennessee (long time Tennessee fan), that will be the biggest sign that a change is needed. Kid openly said he loved Tennessee, and would love to play there at the beginning of this year. He was only concerned about the coaching situation.

FWIW, I think Bell goes to Bama or Ohio State if we don't get our ish together, and hire a new coach or look incredible in a potential bowl game over the holidays.

Why would he want to go to MSU? There are far better options available.

Instant playing time. We lose 3 Sr. starters in the secondary. Plus coach brewster is recruiting his tail off. This guy is gonna pull in some guys. He has only been at msu since august and has us getting mentioned by some top talent.

USC also gives him a chance for instant playing time...is that all you got? Leonard Williams is starting, Lamar Dawson started last year as a true freshmen..the kids out of the southeast are treated equally in a chance to start...

Playing early is great and all, kinda sucks when your losing though. I did think this was USC best shot at making a run. With the guys that are leaving, I see the sanctions starting to take an affect more then it had. Maybe Im wrong, just my thoughts.

As far as Miss St goes, Mullen seems to going in the right direction. I dont see them being better then 3rd best in the west, last week should have been a good indicator. Guess will see how the season plays out cause it looks back end heavy

Not trying to flame either program, just my own perception

USC is the kind of place that still draws heavy interest from star players...rather we win big or not. The word is that there is a lineup of 4 & 5* players waiting for decommits, and that is not hyperbole. This recruiting season could hold surprises and an exciting finish, regardless of the few committed players that will end up somewhere else.

Dont disagree with you at all, Im from Cali and like Southern Cali. And yes USC still has a cache about it since the Carrol days. That said, I do think that a few years of being average can start to make that not so appealing. I think Miami is a good example of that.

His family doesn't want him that far away. They have been working him hard lately. He is only a few hours away from starkville. Everyone wants to put down starkville but it seems every time a recruit comes to town they talk about how surprised they were that the campus was so nice and all. In January we open our new football complex that will rival the best in the nation. We cave plenty to offer.

That may just happen...great player, but everyone is pretty laid back about it - because of other things we're hearing.

Notre Dame is a great school, it's not as if it's a WTF? choice. Right now..he's yours.

Ah...the cache has been strong longer than the PC era...we seem to come back again in time for these kid's parents to remember all the glory, pageantry and winning. Pete told us that his big sell in recruiting after those dark, dark Hacket years was the fact that USC had just won "2000 College of the Year" by the Princeton Review and Time Magazine..that, and the tradition, which he focused on the parents, and selling the kids that they had a great opportunity to bring USC back to former glory.

I think it also helps that our former players, going way back, are so involved in the program - visible and supporting the university, they also have their own very powerful support club for former players only. I know Nelson Agholor was absolutely star struck to see guys like Ronnie Lott, Marcus Allen, Tony Boseli, Sam "Bam" Cunningham, Anthony Munoz, the late Junior Seau, etc on the sidelines of the spring game.

We may not have the nicest, loudest stadium, but at any give game, you will see Trojan players that are Pro HOFers on the sidelines or sitting in the stands. I've counted up to five at one single game. Kids love this.
