It's really sad that a very profitable league feels the need to lowball municipalities into help funding these stadiums.

Goodell is a straight douche canoe.

  • Take Minnesota's team away so LA can have yet another team fail. What will this be? The 4th? Rams, Raiders, Chargers? I think that's right.

With how concerned Goodell is about player safety and taking hits out of the game why does he want a team in L.A.? Imagine how tight Goodell's panties would bunch when the first celebrity spoke out against violence football.

The NFL will never learn no matter how much teams fail in that city.

  • To be fair, investors and businesses feel otherwise. AEG had already sold the naming rights to a stadium that doesn't exist that is home to a team that doesn't exist.

And a team that wont exist 3 years after moving there. It will be their 5th failed franchise. Thats impressive.

Exactly I hope he does it and loses his a** in the long run. He will learn that the girly men in Cali don't support sports.biggrin But seriously he should pay for his own freaking stadium.

  • Another point to note, the proposed stadium is badass and is right downtown next to Staples center and will be a whole new entertainment center with new shoppes,a hotel or some shit like that. Might be a difference.

Who in Cali is paying for a new stadium? Surely not the state or the city.

AEG. Owner of the Staples Center and surrounding area. Also interests in the Lakers,LA Galaxy, part of Houston Dynamo, the LA Kings, other assorted sports clubs and properties around the country and world. It's the second largest event promoter in the US. Subsidiary of Anschuntz investment corp.

Anschuntz is eccentric and freaking loaded.

Dude is banking on this team for his new stadium for the development area.

The city, county, or state might be helping, I'm not sure.

  • Also will hold concerts, international club and national soccer matches, larger LA Galaxy games and other major events. Probably looking at getting the SB and MLS Cup and other major events.

Right well what I am seeing is that Dallas is better at filling stadiums than LA.

And it would seem Tuscaloosa is too.

  • 1. The Chargers were in LA for one year, 1961. A single year 50 years ago doesn't exactly represent sound precedent for future success or failure. A lot has changed in LA in the last 50 years.
    2. Almost everything Al Davis did in the last 20 years of his life failed. If the Raiders would have been well managed, it may have been a very different story. The Raiders aren't a good precedent for future success of an NFL team in LA.
    3. The Rams are probably the best precedent for a future NFL team, but there are issues there. First, if the Raiders hadn't moved to town, the Rams may have been more successful in the '80's and '90's. Second, the Rams WERE successful in LA for the better part of 50 years before struggling in the early '90's and moving to a location that was better only because of the stadium agreement.

I think the precedents are flimsy at best. I definitely think a team that played its home games in the Staples Center area of LA could be successful. That being said, I would hate to see the Vikings leave Minneapolis, but spending public funds on a football stadium is a terrible idea, IMHO. The NFL is by far the richest league in America. They're good for the money.

Edit: Also, IMO, if any NFL team moves to LA, it should be the Jags. Especially since they don't have any fans that would miss them.

With AEG's plan, this stadium and surrounding area will not be paid for by city or state taxes. It is a very good plan and will be a huge money maker while continuing the revitalization of downtown L.A.

Haha I love this misconception of jaguar fans. I live that people actually think that we would not miss our team because of the stuff the media feeds them.
