  • The main reason why it is only 68,000 fans is that the stadium is being sandwiched in between LA Live and a Freeway and there is limited space. Hell I know in one of the recent plans the parking lot was going to be built underneath the stadium. It will be right there in the midst of LA Live with the Staples Center nearby and that place is always packed.

Also the Raiders didn't really fail, Al Davis hated us, but there is a huge culture of fans who are still Raiders fans down there because they loved when the team was there.

We should find out this summer who the team is because they discussed on ESPNLA that the contract of building the stadium requires a team to sign on in the summer and then play in either the Coliseum or the Rose Bowl for the 2-3 years it takes to build the stadium to build a fan base back up in LA.

(There was also some speculation that the reason Magic paid 2 billion for the Dodgers was to swap locations and bring Dodger stadium to LA Live and put the football stadium in Chavez Ravine, but I don't want that to happen, Chavez is tied in with the Dodgers).

  • Following some peoples logic Cleveland, Baltimore, Houston and Phoenix shouldn't have teams either.

Haha I love this misconception of jaguar fans. I live that people actually think that we would not miss our team because of the stuff the media feeds them.

It isn't a misconception. Of all the teams that are in the conversation for moving to LA, the Jags have by far the smallest fan base. They don't sell out games; they don't have a long history in their city. Compared to Buffalo, Minnesota, and San Diego (the other teams I have heard mentioned for an LA move), the Jags would upset people a lot less.

Dude we do sell out our games whenever a great team or one of our biggest rivals come to town and when we have a winning product on the field just like any other team in pro sports.

  • I don't feel bad for the state of Minnesota if they lose this team. This isn't the first rodeo with the Vikings and trying to get a new stadium built. I remember years ago that the Vikings were close as hell to coming to Birmingham, AL because we were going to build them a dome but the deal fell through at the last second. If we would have built that dome the Vikings would have been in Birmingham about 15 years ago.

I'm sorry, but low balling a municipality into help funding a private stadium is garbage. Especially given the current economic and tax revenue situations.

  • They should just move the Jag’s or give LA an expansion team.

Idk if it would have been plausible or not but the Vikings should have tried to build a joint facility with the University of Minnesota, so they would have had a partner paying some of the bill.

I agree with that somewhat and the owner should at least have to throw some of his money into the mix as well. Still the state of Minnesota has always low balled their sports franchises when it comes to getting a new stadium when their current ones get horrible. The Twins had the worst stadium in MLB for a long, long time. I think they have a new one but I could be wrong about that. Maybe a Minnesota fan could enlighten me on the baseball situation.

Still if another city is willing to do what Minnesota isn't willing to do and the lease that the Vikings have in the Metrodome is currently up then I don't feel sorry for them. If they want to keep the team then they should have to be willing to do what another city is going to. That or they shouldn't have let the Vikings lease run up to give them some more time to figure it out..

I don't see the NFL expanding over 32 teams at least anywhere close to the near foreseeable future.

IIRC Goodell talked about the possibility of expanding and giving LA 2 new teams at the Super Bowl. I’m definitely not for it because I believe it will water down the game just like expansion has done to the NBA, but I don’t think a franchise like the Vikings with the history they have deserved to be moved.

Goodell should have gone about this in a more professional way IYAM. That's all I'm saying.

They won't if they can get a half decent stadium built. I agree with BLF that it shouldn't be completely on the city to pay for the whole build though. You would think that they could figure out something fair.

I think Goodell is just posturing, so the state/city will finally give in. But I thought Stern was too, and now the Sonics are in OKC so you never know.

Difference is that I'm pretty sure that when the Thunder's current owner bought the team that he wanted out of Seattle regardless. I actually think that the owner is from the OKC area but I could be wrong. I think the Vikings owner wants to stay in Minnesota he just doesn't want to put any of his money into having the stadium constructed.
