Well, let me elaborate. If you are talking about dieting as in how americans see it (portion size, atkins, no fat, etc..) Then you are correct.
However, if someone changes WHAT their eating, by eating proper nutrition, veggies, fruits, limited meat products, no fast food, etc, anyone will loose weight eating like that. Eat what God gave us to eat. Fat cannot survive with that much oxygen enriched foods in your body, neither can cancer, diabetes, and all other crappy diseases.

On netflix, watch foodmatters and forks over knives. I was 198 in january, im 175 now. get a blender and do fruits and veggies and drinks lots of water. Organic fruits and veggies, cause the store bought ones with pestisides are BAD, the toxins store in your fat and stay there if you dont detox. Nutrition is the biggest factor in weight loss, way more than working out.

There are a million ways to skin a cat, but "The China Study" which is the basis for Forks Over Knives is a complete sham. Some of the statistics were actually made up by Dr. Collin Campbell and he made some HUGE stretches with the data that he actually collected. Just saying, that documentary is nothing more than an infomercial for veganism/juicing and is chock full of misinformation. A lot of people can get in better health by following that particular plan; those are the same people who would get the exact same results from simply eliminating fast food and soda.

This is what I do, besides all the evidence-based research, I have personally helped many many people lose significant weight with no exercise whatsoever.

Veggies and fruit dropped me 20 lbs in 2 months, thats all I know. I dont know much about the data, but I feel awesome.

Everyone is fat cause of the way americans eat. Exercise will tone you and muscle you up though.

Calories in, calories out. Your body burns calories to live or to work out. Now, if you want to accelerate your weight loss and hopefully keep/tone muscle while doing so, then yes, exercising is imperative. Someone can eat right/less and lose a ton of weight without working out. That may not be my chosen or recommended route of losing weight, but the calories in/calories out is the bottom line to all weight loss - whether that be fat loss, muscle loss, or both is up to you.

Go read a book and come back to visit the thread some time. I gotta go, my cat is meowing in my face and she has fish breath.

FYI, I am literally and figuratively a doctor of obesity and exercise. If you are telling someone that thinking like them is why everyone is fat or about the importance of exercise, you might want to direct that comment to someone else.

    Well good for you.

The thread is asking how to lose weight.. I personally believe in exercise on top of a good diet.

Unless u want to half ass that and just diet, exercise is how u get in shape.

You called someone a lazy ass and said, "You can't diet and expect much weight loss." So you're either backing off your statement or having a hard time admitting you should put your foot in your mouth.

  • I wouldn't call anyone who is able to keep his diet in check a lazy ass...and here's how I see losing weight and getting rid of all that fat

85% diet and 15% workout/exercise...that's the real deal

doesn't matter what you do with your workouts if you don't eat right and fuel properly

I've incorporated a lot of what troganNorCal said while also incorporating a running regimen, but also some strength training along with some pull ups, push ups, and sit ups. My mid section responded within a matter of a few weeks, but it really didn't show until the third month. Be patient and trust your plan. My results: I've gone from 22% body fat to 14% body fat.

If you're thinking about running, look into a Jeff Galloway program. It's a run-walk-run interval regimen. I've since completed 2 half marathons (San Antonio Rock-n-Roll and San Diego Petco Park).
