Ok, so I live in Swansboro, NC. I can drive to Myrtle Beach in 1 hour and 45 minutes. How in the hell is the Washington Nationals considered "in market"? They are playing in Cincinnati so i cant watch the game. I am beyond pissed right now and feel like breakibg sonething. It makes no sense whatsoever to not be able to watch a Reds game in Cincinnati because a team 2 states away is playing them.
Someone explain this to me.

Doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is, I am nowhere near DC. Why should I not get to watch the Reds playing in Cincinnati just because they are playing against a team that is 2 states away from me?
I only go to Myrtle to golf. If I want to go to a nice beach I drive 10 miles from my house to Emerald Isle.

Do media blackouts actually boost attendance? I mean, is there data confirming this? I've had more than a few Braves games blackedout in Tuscaloosa (a couple were actually away games, so... wtf?) and the Alabama spring game was blackedout when I was in Atlanta. I mean, how far away do you have to get?

Okay this thread is confusing as hell. I watch all the Braves games on FSS and SportsSouth, which includes all the Braves games. The games I can't see are all the other teams. I am in the Braves market too. So I guess y'all s teams just suck at TV deals.

You really have no idea what you are talking about. Just stop. TV deal? Seriously?
I can get the Nationals games just like you get the Braves games. For some reason, even though I'm 2 states away, they consider the Nationals our local team. That means their games are blacked out on MLB TV and MLB Extra Innings. Doesn't matter if they play home or away, they are blacked out. They play on a local station that I get, but I have to record that on my DVR. I was unaware that the Reds were playing the Nationals yesterday, so I didn't record it. You can watch your Braves on your local station, but you wouldn't be able to watch them on MLB TV or Extra Innings because it would be blacked out.
Nothing at all to do with TV deals. Its just that the local station has the rights. Its like that in every city.

You may want to go back and read your post, because it read like you couldn't get it at all.
As for your complaint, get over it, just DVR the game and watch it on TV. Geez. Sounds to me like it's your fault that you didn't get to watch it. Also how could you not know who your team was playing anyhow?

Had Extra Innings last year. They black out the Nationals games as well because they are "In Market". At least MLB TV lets me watch the games 90 minutes after they are completed. MLB TV archives every game for me and is $100 LESS than Extra Innings. Never going back to Extra Innings unless they lower their ridiculous price.
