  • not trying to start a pissing contest but since i converse with you guys on a daily basis would at least like to start to get ro know peoples backgrounds more...

im in exercise research...i have a bs in exercise science and an ms in exercise physiology... ultimately will finish with an md and specialize in sports medicine and maybe emphasis on orthopedics...id like to research and improve overall health through means of exercise and nutrition as a medication and decrease the need for drugs in society. my goal is to one day have an athletic research facility named after me at fsu...and make fsu one of the leading programs in the exercise science field.

edit: by the way lets keep this civil... i intentionally posted in a leisure manner so it would be a more comfortable atmosphere...no need to be grammar specific in a conversation among friends

  • I'm an auditor and aspire to one day investigate fraud with the FBI. Things like forensic accounting, tax evasion, tax fraud, securities fraud and any sort of financial misrepresentation interest me. It's a long, long path I'm going down but ultimately those are my goals. We'll see where I'm at by about age 30 or so.

Michigan State has the most federal law enforcement alumni of any university. Perhaps that will one day pay off for me. As it stands, I make money for partners at a pay rate below my expectations as I embark on the craptastic career in public accounting and my journey to become a CPA. Yay for me... but not really. Hard work pays off... right?

I've been told that if you pay your dues in your 20's, get the career in your 30's, that then you can enjoy life in your 40's and 50's to retire early and live a nice, long retirement. I'm hoping my financial decisions will pay off. Wish me luck.

  • After high school I was a promoter, and i threw raves for some years. It was good money--well, really good-- but the legal entanglements of the job started getting too heavy.

Then, I was a draftsman, but then those jobs all went away...

Then I was a technical writer, but that career sucked, and i hated it so much...

back in school for business mgmt...

Wow, my cousin has a cattle ranch just out side Fort Payne, tell him I said hi....thanks in advance.

My dad and I used to own a RV dealership but it was only 3 years old and when the economy shit I still had too many eggs in one basket and went out of business about 2 months before we got solvent.

Starting half way over in the trucking industry at a Peterbilt dealership, there is 16 dealerships so I will probably retire with this company.

I'm a machinist at kirk key interlock. We make industrial safety parts. Housings, lockbolts etc etc. I do the programming and setting up our vertical and horizontal mills. Most interesting piece we have done were locking brackets for solar panel fields in Nevada, Florida and Brazil. Things were 60 lbs a piece and we had to make thousands of them. Only could pump out 17 per shift. Fun fun.

haha sort of, I wish I actually did some interesting stuff like that

my job currently doesn't use my degree to that extent but I'm hopeful my next job will...in 2-3 years I'll be looking for a job that I will really enjoy...not that I don't like my current one but it's not exactly what I'm hoping to do with my life

that's kind of what i originally went to school for - exercise and sports science w/ the intention of becoming an athletic trainer so i could still be around sports. the athletic training program is highly competitive (only 25 total students at the time) so they told me to go out and get a 3.9 and come back after 3 long semesters. yeah, that didn't happen! lol i eventually did get my minor in e&ss, but on a coaching track, not ath training - i was already coaching high school, so i figured it was applicable. i really found the exercise physiology classes interesting in terms of learning how proper form truly matters. videotaping athletes, tracing their body angles to analyze and show them what they needed to do to be faster and jump higher - very cool field of study.

i've been in tech sales or business development from the time i graduated. telecom, oil & gas, hardware, manufacturing, enterprise solutions, you name it.

one of the things on my 'when i win the lottery' list is to go to culinary school and really learn how to cook. i cook all the time, and i can learn a ton on the internet, but i'd love to know more techniques, more about sauces, etc. i worked in a kick ass bistro for a couple of years in college and it really opened my eyes to high end eats. good luck on the job hunt!

here's my most recent creation: pan seared scallops over sweet potato mashers, sauteed mushrooms and kale w/ roasted tomatoes and garlic.

  • Have a phd in chemical engineering. With the exception of 3 internships, have been in academia my entire career. Got bored with bench research the last year or two. Leaving the academic arena shortly to become a scientific advisor for the legislature of one of the largest states in the union.

  • Got my B.A. in Graphic Design and my M.A. in Advertising and Public Relations. Plan to work in the creative field for a few years (design, communications, advertising, etc.) then go back to school to get an M.B.A., most likely in marketing. I also don't really want to ever retire (I'd get bored) so someday way down the line I want to get a Ph.D. (no idea in what) and teach at a university. Preferably Alabama.

  • Manage a finance company. BC lending. Not what I love by any means, but extremely incentive based with a pretty decent salary. We also are licensed mortgage originators. First year out of college in a small town of Mississippi and I made $75K.
