The refs determined his forward progress stopped. Just because he could move forward after the whistle does not mean his forward progress was not stopped. By the time Taylor was reaching across the goal line, Te'o was 2 steps away celebrating.

Still a little butthurt huh? Did you ever think that the defensive scheme of forcing Denard to throw had anything to do with all those picks?
Let me guess, u guys didn't play "Michigan football" that day? ScUM only turned it over once in the second half, still couldn't get it done.

Dude we've won 5 of the last 7 games. WE threw 6 picks and barely lost.
WE have have no "ND" complex other than used to whipping that ass.
You beat us once on homefield and are 6-0. Get your chirping in now, cuz you about to get butt raped by Okie and USC. Especially USC.
I fugging hate the Trojans, but I'm #1 SC fan during that week. Can't wait until they tap that ass, trolling will be on full force.

It's the final play Stan.
Don't blow the whistle. Let the guy get tackled or score a touchdown. That way no one has to debate the usage of the forward progress ruling.
Again, everyone understands this. Almost everyone.
**Edited so it doesn't offend anyone from the Meeechigan fan-base.

So if a player tries to jump the pile on the goal line on the final play and lands on the pile but does not cross the goal line, the officials are supposed to let the play continue until the defense can drag the player to the ground?
Plays have always been blown dead when the ball carrier's forward progress was stopped. Now because Stanford was stopped, you want the rule to be changed? Every play continues until the carrier is taken to the ground? w/jw

The delusion is taking it's toll. I forgot how annoying ND fans were because they are relevant for the first time since Brady Quinn.
Like I've repeated 100 times, and I'll repeat 100 more times. I cannot wait until USC and Okie tap that ass. Trolling will be full systems go when (not if) that happens.

I'm not mad, just sick and tired of ND fans acting like their team is the tits. You've beaten 2 average teams (Michigan, Stanford at home none the less) and that's about it.
And Michigan isn't very good this year I can admit that no problem, I came into the season knowing that. Michigan just doesn't have the talent right now to compete on an elite level.
ND is going to get raped by USC and probably Okie, just wait bro.

I got no dog in fight. I could leess about either team. There is no way on Gods green Earth that without a whistle, that wasn't a clear(by 1/2 foot) TD. As bad a call as you will ever see, as it was painfully obvious, reviewed, yet not changed. Only question was did he maintain possession as he went over the goal line, well stanford recovered in end zone so its a moot point.

You really dont know your rules, Sir. Goodness gracious.
A forward fumbled ball may only be recovered by the fumbler late in the game or OT. This rule has been in effect for decades which was brought on by Ken 'the snake' Stabler who fumbled the ball forward into the endzone when being tackled and recover by TE Dave Caspar.
That said, he appeared to have control as it crossed the plane. That was never the issue at hand. The issue at hand was always when forward progress was ruled stopped by the approaching side judge. Personally, I wish they didnt blow the whistle so we would have known without debate if the Stanford RB would have made it through #44, #17, #2, #41 and #5 of NDame who were all there within an arms length of the ball carrier. My guess is he wouldnt have made it in.

Stanford had four chances from the goal line to tie the football game. If their best effort is a 4th down run up the middle, which did not result in a decisive TD, then I'm sorry. Notre Dame clearly scored a TD in OT, why couldn't Stanford? Why didn't Stanford score an offensive TD in regulation? Sometimes the refs can't bail out overmatched teams on borderline calls. If forward progress is NOT considered, I completely agree that it looks like Taylor got into the end zone. However, based on evidence that the sideline ref had called forward progress, they blew it dead. You cannot sit on a pile, wait until players clear the area (which Te'o did), and reach for a subsequent TD.
Again, if Stanford wanted to win the game, they should have looked into the following options: A) score an offensive TD or B) not wait until 4th down in OT to make an effort to cross the goal line.
