so if we switch to the minimum government mandated insurance

You just stated that healthcare quality isn't going to go down. You have deemed everything you say irrelevant since you don't know what you are talking about.

Go look at the quality of healthcare in this country compared to any other country with universal healthcare.

    Again. Apples and oranges.

Should we compare countries that just have universal coverage? Or just socialized medicine? Or single-payer? Or non?

    Quality of care?

What about other statistics? Like cost to benefit ratios? Statistics on actual health?

We pay more than we should for what we get. PERIOD.

  • By the way, the government isn't getting into any more business in this than they were anyways.

They aren't going to be running every hospital.

They are subsidizing PRIVATE insurance purchase by the working poor.

LOL, except the cost of healthcare will not go down.

The government cannot even deliver mail without losing billions. What makes you think they can handle something that makes up 1/5 of the economy?

The fact that half a trillion of the funding is supposed to come from cutting waste and fraud in Medicare and Medicaid is a good indicator of their track record in healthcare

  • I'll let yall know about the govt pools, I'm going to be in one soon

They really don't even have to do that. They are still caring for the people as it is. They are just not getting paid for it and that cost is being passed along to the insured.

  • There's a lot of opinion ITT and little fact. Anyone who says it will raise costs or that for sure it'll lower costs has no clue what they are talking about. No one knows. Laws have unintended consequences. But that doesn't mean you stop passing laws. It means that once the law is enacted, which the majority of this law hasn't been yet, you tweak and change the law to fix problems

I am not exactly for it, but if it helps drive down healthcare cost significantly over the next 15-20 years it will be a success

    Not gonna happen!

I'm worried about it hurting the quality of my healthcare.

I agree. I think any view that believes that it won't hurt your healthcare quality is a bit starry-eyed.

And to answer the OP, you'll be treated like shit if you have the minimum.

  • You guys are hilarious. Do you think we are going to make 60k per year while having the stress of making life changing decisions. You do realize that it cost about 300k just for the 4 years of medical school, not counting college. MANY MANY intelligent people will not go into medicine, its simply not worth it with the hours you spend from making 4.0 in college to medical school, to private practice. We didn't win the lottery we actually EARNED it. How would you like it if someone walked into your office tomorrow and told you that you will work twice as hard and make half as much money from now on.

    Boom

Anyway.... I dislike being 'nerfed' to allow the rest of the herd to catch up. I believe i survival of the fittest... and every man/woman for him/herself.

People should be encouraged to go above and beyond and earn things.

If you worked your way up the chain, you would have healthcare covered.... if not, it's motivation to keep on working.

What is the motivation to grind when things are handed out?
