Why have I been chose to suffer this torment.

If I had ten and access to more I would be rubbing it in also.

    But I don't. cry

I had some Dales Pale Ale the other day for the first time in a long time. I forgot how good that beer was.

Oskar Blues Brewery was started by an Auburn grad. He brewed his first beer in Auburn. Unfortunately, we can't get any of their beer here. loco I picked up a 6-pack of Dale's when we were in ATL for family Christmas, and it was delish. I'm want to try their other beers.

  • Sixpoint released the latest beer in their Mad Scientist series Thursday, Ich Bin Kein. By far the most sour beer I've had that's not a gueze or a lambic.

  • Got I try SweetWater's new 15th Anniversary Dank Tank this weekend. It was pretty good. First time I got to try their Exodus Porter, too. Also good.

Also happy about the 24+ bottles of Fat Tire I brought back with me.

Fat Tire is my least favorite New Belgium beer and it is still really good. Ranger, their IPA, is what started my IPA love.

Fat Tire's my favorite with 1554 in tow. Got a sampler with Ranger so I'll be trying that, too.

1554 is solid. I wish it was on tap more places. Great beer to have in the winter.

    Ranger is a solid IPA.

Yep. Two better ones are brewed in the same city though imo. Every time I go to Fort Collins I buy over $100 in IPAs.

Yeah Ranger is far from my favorite IPA but it is never a bad option.

It is normally the IPA I recommend to people that haven't had one. It isn't too harsh and still has that hoppy aroma.

  • Have any of y'all who are not from Birmingham or Alabama in general gotten the chance to try anything brewed by either Good People or Avondale? Curious to get an outsider's opinion on them (both are, as you've probably already figured out, in Birmingham, AL).

  • I've had the Good People IPA (can't remember the name) and the Double IPA (Snake Handler?). Both were very good.

Heard a lot of good things about avondale, but never tried.

  • Totally unrelated question in regards to my previous one: Anyone in here ever built a kegerator? I'm a big fan of DIY and saving money (at least trying to) and I've been looking at this Sanyo 4912 mini-fridge-to-kegerator retrofit. Can hold 2 corny kegs. Wondering if anyone has done something similar and can comment further on the actual cost of the project.

I built a kegerator out of a regular old fridge. I don't have it with me right now or I would take a photo and show you.

It was pretty easy to rig up. It didn't cost me much because I already had the refridgerator.

I'm intrigued by all of these Sanyo 4912M conversions I've seen. The mini-fridge when converted holds 2 corny kegs and a 5lb tank of CO2. Apparently they used to be easy to find used back when all these posts I've seen were made (2009 or earlier) but I haven't seen any used ones and they still retail for ~$300. I'm going to do some measuring and figure out another mini-fridge worth using that can also fit 2 kegs and a dual tap tower. Fridge aside, what all hardware did you use? I keep seeing Perlick as THE brand for faucets.

I think perlick is just the style of faucet. That is what I used though.

This is the faucet that I used.

This is what I used on the front door of the fridge. I have 3 faucets so I had to buy 3 of these.

Ah, nice. Thanks for the info. I might have to shelve the project because it's come to my attention I can't get kegs filled in Alabama OR Mississippi which means Georgia is my best bet... 3 hours away. That's a lot of driving for two 5g kegs.
