Do any of you guys have any experience with this site or a similar site? Thinking about giving it a try.

I've never used a site to buy beer, but was looking at one site they other day. Seems like a good way to get ahold of some brews not available in the area.

I had a buddy that got Dogfish 120 Minute off a site, and it arrived fine.

Interesting. Yeah they have some brews I would like to try.

Any of you guys had any of the Smuttynose brews? Seems Like I have heard some talk about it but I am to lazy to go back and look.

I remember trying one of their brews and not carrying for it much. Can't remember which one it was though.

Anybody here from Hoboken or Jersey City? I have a beer bar in Jersey City I think any and ALL would like to venture into....

HopsScotch. We're craft beer and scotch. We have 40 on tap, 55 in a bottle (all high end, one bottle is 37 bucks), 60 single malts and 125 whiskys. Food menu is damn good. We "stole" the executive chef from Koi who designed all their menus.

Ex. Potato skin - Small russet potatoes, smoked duck confit, gruyere cheese sauce, creme fraiche, serrano ham and chive.

We also have 17 screens and show EVERY game. I mean, I'll put cricket on if you want it....

I'm in Hoboken sometimes....What's the name of the place?

  • Picked up a couple of twelve packs of Fat Tire on the way back from ATL this weekend & some Dogfish 90 Minute IPA. It's an absolute joke they can't sell New Belgium in AL. Dogfish Head is hard to find down here, also. I'll wire one of you some money if you will send me a sixer of Bitches Brew. Aussie...did you ever try it with your brother?

Smuttynose makes some pretty good stuff....the Big Beer Series in particular houses most of their better offerings. IPA "The Finest Kind" is pretty good as well. Anybody gonna be running out to get the Westvleteren 12 brick Wednesday?

For the most part all their stuff gets good reviews. Old Brown Dog Ale is one of my favorite brown ales

  • Smuttynose makes a great run of the mill IPA (along the lines of Avery or Stone). The Big A IPA packs a punch.

Still on a Founders kick, especially now that it's cold. Tough to beat the Double Chocolate Breakfast Stout.

Headed to Beer City (Asheville, NC) and will stock up on some new brews this weekend.

I was told that New Belgium was setting up a distribution center in one of the Carolinas and that AL would be receiving a lot of them as a result... any truth to that?

  • I know Sierra Nevada set up shop in Asheville, and I think you're right that New Belgium did as well. Not to be a dick about it, but my guess is you will quickly tire (pun intended) of Fat Tire. It's really not very good from a craft perspective.

That would be my guess as well. I can get New Belgium any time I want and never really do.

  • I live in Atlanta now, so I don't have most of the lack o' beer problems I had when in Alabama. Except for all of the 'Bama brews I can't get now. grumble

Double Wide is pretty solid. I want to try Modus Hoporandi just becasue it's an awesome name for a beer.
