How can you buy it over the net? I would guess that is illegal due to interstate shipping laws etc. Especially if it was one individual selling to another.

Not sure since I have never done it. I has heard guys talk about to though.

  • Bump. I want some more beer conversation. I am having a Sam Adams Imperial Wee Heavy. Actually very good. It is 10% but very good. Anyone else try anything new lately?

IPA and Pale Ales for me. I had someone come in to work tonight and order a Mich Ultra. He took a sip "Damn, thats the best beer that exists on this earth." Took all I had not to laugh and make fun of him. If I wanted an Ultra, I'd buy bottled water

lol To each his own I guess but I can not drink any american style lagers like that. Like you said it tastes like water. Bad water at that.

  • If I'm conserving money, Miller Lite. But I love the Sweetwater 420. One of my favorite Pale Ales

When I was still in school I would drink whatever I could get my hands on. That last time I had a beer of that type though was literally when I was still on school. Call me a beer snob if you like but I just can't drink that stuff anymore.

  • I have no problem being defined as a beer snob. I have friends who will call me just to ask my input on a beer they want to try. But since I'm still in school, I dont have that much of an issue drinking American Lagers. I do have a limit when it comes to Keystone, Milwaukees Best and Busch

I here where you are coming from on that. I had some of the worst beers known to man when I was in school.

I was talking to a guy once that was probably 40ish. He said when he was in school they used to drink a beer that was just called "Beer". He said it was a white can with a blue label. I thought about how bad that must have been.

  • I've been enjoying the Lagunitas Brewery lately, but I think I defer to Stone as the defacto source of beer pleasure for me. Being a hophead, I'll try almost any IPA I come across. Haven't been impressed with Terrapin's efforts yet. I do enjoy the Loose Cannon, which has a hint of raspberry (I think), but a ton of hops. The Sierra Nevado Hoptimum was good, but actually a disappointment given my affinity for the Torpedo. I love Avery's IPA as well.

For just general greatness across the board, I think it's tough to beat Bell's though. i've yet to have a beer from Bell's that wasn't above average if not excellent.

Also, for you stouties, I go with Duck Rabbit Milk Stout. Also, Founders Breakfast, if you can still find it.

Great taste in beer. I drank about every beer you posted about just last night.

Didn't you also start the "Hungover" thread? Makes sense.

  • Had the chance to travel most of the country and always try the local brews. Coolest brewery Ive been to is Stone, place is amazing, think beer is way over-rated though. Its very good dont get me wrong, but nit elite.

Best overall beers Founders in Grand Rapids, everything they make is good and Dogfish head.

As far as individual beers, I am a big fan of bourbon barrel aged high gravity ales. New Hollands Dragons Milk, Founders Sloppy Bastard, and Kentucky Brewing Co.'s Bourbon Barrel Ale, but all time favorite and only had it once and cant find it

New Holland Ocho Mole . Its a high gravity ale brewed with chocolate and chipolte peppers. Fantastic

It started last night as the "High and Drunk Thread", but yea. If there was a gif for how I feel today it would be the exact opposite of this one banana

    Totally agree.

living in Alabama the beer selection has been very limited until recently when the free the hops movement finally got the archaic alcohol limits loosened up. Those limits kept many brewers products out of Alabama. I think the limit was 5% or something ridiculous. In fact a couple of years after college I had essentially stopped drinking alcohol all together except for the occasional glass of wine at dinner or bourbon on special occasions. I had completely stopped drinking beer. There was nothing redeeming about any of the beers I was familiar with so they weren't worth drinking. I really wasn't into getting smashed any more so what was the point?

Over the next few years I occasionally tried a few beers that were not american lagers (piss). The ones that stood out were a Mackeson XXX, Fuller's London Porter, and Bodington's. It opened up my eyes a bit but I still rarely drank. By rare I mean 1-2 drinks every 6 months, seriously.

What changed it for me was my neighbor. He introduced me to truly premium beer. He was getting a lot of stuff from out of state, Belgians, IPAs, stouts, porters etc that I had never seen or heard of. Well as you can imagine my palate was very interested and I began to learn about on my own. Good beer is a great thing and I often thank him for introducing me to it.

I hate living in Alabama because of the sole reason of the lack of beer selection
