I have one Sucks left, Im legitimately too nervous to open it. So instead I'm cleaning out my fridge of some other random stuff starting with Heavy Seas Peg Leg. They call is a RIS but its more of a porter, pretty average all around.

Doing the same thing. I can't part ways with the last sucks.

Word is they are about to begin production on 32oz Individual bottles. Pretty excited about that.

I do not. I haven't lived in Florida in a long time. The only brewery from Florida I have had anything from is Cigar City. They have some great stuff.

Alright. I had some stuff that was on tap from them tonight at a local restaurant. I liked it alright. I'm a novice and know very little about beer though.

What did you have? Looking on Beer Advocate it looks like they have some good brews.

I had the Jon Boat and the I-10 IPA. I liked I-10 more. I don't think Intuition has been open a long time but they are getting pretty big in Jacksonville.

Seems like the beer scene down there is really blowing up.

Yea. Bold City Brewing is the only other local brewer I'm aware of around here. Like I said not too on the beer scene.

  • Had a Devil's Britches IPA from Highland Brewery last night. It's not anything to write home about, but a solid brew. It reminds me of an overly effervescent Reisling (only in the sense that you lose some of the flavor as a result of the carbonation).

Have a Green Flash Palate Wrecker in the fridge for later. I've got a bit of a cold and not sure the 149 IBUs will play well with congestion.

    One hopslam left. Sigh.

Green Flash is close to my top breweries, behind Stone and Lagunitas.

I have not been that impressed with Green Flash. Palate Wrecker is good and so is Hop Head Red. Other than that I have not been blown away by anything I have had of theirs.

I pray that Lagunitas makes Sucks a year round brew. Would be awesome.

The Sucks is bomb, but if they don't decide to make it year round - which I don't think they will - Hop Stoopid is really good and very comparable(if you can get it).

Green Flash West Coat IPA is one of my favs. The Double Stout is solid as well.

    Yeah, I said it.

It is actually pretty much confirmed they are going to make it year round once they open their brewery in Chicago. Hop Stoopid is not nearly as good to me. I like Hop Stoopid too. Just not quite as good.

On that note just found some more Sucks. smoke

Surprised to hear that Aussie, as you and I have usually tracked pretty closely on beer tastes. I'm not sure I've had a Green Flash that wasn't top notch (although the Friendship Brew is WAY too floral for my tastes, but I give them credit and "get it" on what they were trying to pull off). The West Coast IPA is a favorite of mine, and I'd put it up there with most any "standard" IPA.

I'm surprised at all the Lagunitas love. I need to revisit I suppose. I hit big on them about 2 years ago, and really haven't paid much attention in the last year or so. Always enjoyed it, but it seemed a minor player compared to Stone and Bells and perhaps even Avery (at the time...this was b/f the big kick that craft brews are seeing now).

By the by to all, enjoying the newfound interest in the Brew Crew. For a while it was pretty much Aussie, the few Alabama guys and me. I pretty much just grab recs from this thread, check Beer Advocate and Rate Beer to make sure I'm not being BS'd, and then seek it out. Well done folks.

I like Green Flash. My comments were a little harsh. I am just not as big on them as other breweries. I did not like their Imperial IPA at all. I still haven't had all of their stuff yet though.

If you haven't had tried Lagunitas Sucks you need to do so. That is if you can still find some around. Top notch IPA.

Agreed, I am glad that this thread is finally taking off a little bit.

No it was only in 6 packs. They are actually releasing it in a 32oz. bomber soon.

I was definitely not impressed with their Imperial IPA, that was without a doubt my least favorite of anything I've had by them. Mediocre at best.

Found some Stone Russian Imperial Stout from 2010, haven't cracked yet though. I was really impressed with their 2012, though. I like just about anything that Stone puts out.

I have not been able to try their RIS. Definitely on my list.
