  • I had the best beer night of my life last night at a place called The Bavarian Lodge. Never been to this place before and I'm mad it took me so long to find it. Seriously look at this beermenu
    Founders Imperial Stout
Goose island Bourbon County Stout (coffee)
    Ale to the Chief
    Three Floyd's Dreadnaught
    Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout
Every beer I had was an absolute winner. And every beer except the Dreadnaught was a first time experience. All three stout were absolutely fantastic.

  • Also,

The BCSC was absolutely incredible but I have to say that my preference is the original bourbon county stout.

I have everyone of those sitting in my refrigerator right now except for the Ale to the Chief. That is a very nice selection.

I still haven't tried BCSC yet so I can't compare to the original

  • Jeez. I haven't even heard if most of those.

I am 23. Very young in beer years compared to many others discussing beer on here, Im sure.

Strongly considering getting into home brewing. For as much as I love beer, I don't know why I wouldn't.

There is no telling what they paid for that bottle of BCBS Rare. So many ridiculously hard to get beers on that list. BB Dark Lord and CBS are impossible to get a hold of as well.

I used to do some home brewing. I just don't have the time right now. I plan to get back into it one day.

Any suggestions on recipes & equipment you prefer?

I don't really have any good recipes. There are loads of clone recipes out there. Often times released by the breweries themselves.

I recommend checking out Northern Brewer for some equipment. At least that is where I got mine.

Im going to pick it up tomorrow morning before driving back. Not sure how much to get. This spot has a bunch of other stuff that I haven't seen by me but really want to try. Ill probably grab two 6 packs. And then spend the rest of my money elsewhere. Gonna be a borderline $100 haul tomorrow cheers

  • I somehow managed to restrain myself and only bought the following. Pretty pumped though as I've never had any of them

I would probably let the VE age a little while Dale's is a really good PA. If you ever see Deviant Dale's you should try that as well.

  • Im worried about aging because Im not sure how to store it. I have a workshop room in the basement where most of the beer is typically kept but that gets pretty cold at times and I'm not sure about the change of temperatures. I have it sitting in my closet in my room right now but I wonder if thats too warm. Probably not a big deal either way but I get hung up on little details like that.

Also this thread is broke. Not showing a page 46 on the main boards screen but if you just click the thread and replace the page number with 46 it loads this page. Weird. edit: and now its fixed

I just age mine in my closet for now. I am working on a better solution but for now that is fine.

This was a good call, just about everything is enhanced, a bit more bitterness and the malt comes through more. Hops are pretty legit in this, just reading some of the reviews but I thought "juicy" was a perfect general term for it.

  • Like the Ballast Point IPA a lot, but prefer the Big Eye PA they put out.

Had my Fresh Hops last night from Great Divide. Not bad, but nothing special.

Sculpin might be my favorite IPA. Big Eye is really good too.

I also like their Victory at Sea porter.

  • Liquor store got in Boulevard Grainstorm Black Rye IPA in today. I really don't need any more right now but I have to try this out.
