The Ski Resort was at today had a beer tasting. Tried Left Hand Milk Stout, 400lb Monkey, Polestar Pilsner, Stranger Inside Pale Ale, and Black Jack. All very good beers. Highly recommend them all, Stranger Inside Pale Ale is probably my favorite beer at the moment.

Ya. That's they most highly rated I think. Very good. Chicago is young in the brewing world but a lot if young talent. Revolution, Pipeworks, Half Acre, and now goose islands old brewmaster has left to start a new one. Exciting times here. Give it 10 or 20 years and I expect Chicago to be up there with SD and Portland and someof those other top tier brewing cities. To many people here right now starting for it not to be.

I'm just hoping i have the monetary flow to make the Northwestern game and do the Chi town area tour next year with some of the BN Beer guys. All those 3F's and a few others i think.

Founders Red Rye PA tonight, first Rye I've had and it is damn good.
I had a quick sample of their All-Day IPA, which just came out, at my shop on Friday. It was pretty good but I was a little underwhelmed, super grassy aroma/taste.
Closing in on completing my sampling of all the main Founders beers, just need to have their IPA and Pale Ale. Less than a month until Doom and KBS are out

Jesus guys. Back from the bar.
Had a rogue double chocolate stout. Pretty good. Not extraordinary. Liked Brooklyn's interpretation better.
Also had palate wrecker. Very good. Not as much flavor. Lives up to the title but not the complex beer I had heard about.
Anyone ever have this beer? Just about to delve in. Pretty excited.

I'm still young to this barrel aging game but so far it's enjoyable. Waiting for it to warm up a bit. I think it could be heading in a good direction.

Got to try Pliny the Younger today, and it was worth the wait. Much more balanced than Elder, and the hop flavor was better. Also got to try Bruery Humulus and was a bit disappointed. It tasted very good, but there was nothing about it that suggested Imperial Pilsner, which is what it is marketed as. It was more like an IPA than a pilsner.

Yes, I was going to age this one but since I was getting a second I went ahead and had this one. It was really good. One of the best beers I have ever had.
