tBB Golf Thread: Our Balls Really Fly

  • TBB golfers get in here. I just wanted to make a thread to discuss all things golf. I know we have a lot of golfers on here so I hope we get some good conversation.

    I have been sucking with my putter lately. I am thinking about going with one of the long putters. I have a bad back so when I am standing over a putt my starts hurting and I get uncomfortable. Does anyone have any experience with one of these? Let me know your thoughts.

  • My drive is consistent, my putting is on, and my iron shots are good right now. The part of my game that keeps me from being close to a scratch golfer is my short game wedges. If I'm within 20 yards, and I have my approach wedge out, I know that I am not getting that ball close to the pin. I'm just not. I've been working on that kind of shot, but just can't get better.

  • That is probably one of my stronger areas. Putting is destroying my game game right now. I would have probably shot under par my last time out if I could have put.

  • I wish I could get consistent with any club right now. I do not get to play that often which has hurt. I just staryed playing a couple of years ago and I am slowly albeit very slowly getting better.

  • just got home from playing a quick 9. Played ok shot a 36 on a par 70 course... Pretty much the only course that isnt under water here.

    Me 2. Shot a 39 though. chipping hurt me today... couldnt get the touch down for some reason.

  • I'm here in Myrtle Beach for the weekend and I'm about to go play. Been waiting on my buddy to meet me so we can get out there soon. We're supposed to already be out there and I'm getting anxious.

  • Shot a 37 yesterday on 9.

    No driver off the tee. Haven't been able to hit it straight for a couple weeks now.

    I shot a 75 a couple weeks ago and I believe I hit about 12 fairways and all of the sudden I'm hitting just this 90 degree snap hook off the tee. My irons, short game, and putting have always been my strength

    I play the TaylorMade Penta but I swear to god, you cant go three holes without the cover getting chewed up.

    Anyone heard anything about the new Prov1's?

    I play Callaway Tour X iz. I have tried them all and I prefer those. I have the same problem with the cover though. I have scuffed those balls with a hard wedge shot.

    Yeah, I'm going to a guy today at my club but I have done some extensive research and I think it is because my plane line is too flat. I've started to change my swing and it just takes time and patience

    Yeah, I got a cheater wedge(a Vokey) this winter and I swear, I've never seen anything chew up balls so fast.

    I love the putting line on the iz's and the penta's

  • The last time I bought a box I got the Tour is's instead just to try them out. I might make the switch because I haven't really lost any distance and I like the feel of them around the greens more.

    I have heard the vokeys chew up balls really bad. I have a friend with the cleveland zip grooves and they are the same way. I have Scratch wedges and I love them. I will never switch. I had cleveland before those.

    I go back and forth between the TM Penta and Callaway HX Bite. My strength is off the tee, so I have to use soft balls around the green. The HX Bite is my favorite ball around the tee. My buddy let me try his Titleist NXT Tour, and they hold really well around the green as well.

    Oh yeah, I'll hit a 50-115 yard approach shot with the Vokey and I swear it will leave a mark that is as big as two grooves. It just chews everything up.

    I've had 5 spin-back hole outs with the club, so I can't complain.
