Yea I got pretty lucky. I've never been, but would be excited to even go to a practice round.

Same here. Just to get to see Augusta in person would be awesome.

I honestly think I would too. Smashing one straight down the middle of the fairway 325 yards everytime would be better than sex anyway.

When you do, do that its one of the most satisfying things ever. If you're looking into adding distance to your drives, look up swing lag. That's how all of these pros get such good distance on their swing.

Extremely difficult to master, but when you hit it pure it feels so, damn, good.

On a side note, this got me thinking, how about a golf badge lol

Oh I can lay it out there. I just usually don't know where it is going. But damn for those drives that I just stripe down the middle it feels so good.

  • And I don't think this thread is really big enough to justify a badge. Maybe one day. This is the first time it has been posted in for months.

Haha, me too. What is really funny is im a skinny guy (6'2" 160lbs), and its hilarious when I see the face on people alot stronger than me and I out drive them by 30 yards. I tell them technique, technique, technique.

Yep it is all about clubhead speed.

  • I fear I'm becoming a driving range warrior. I go out to the range and am lacing the ball time after time. I get on the course, and it takes me 5 holes to work the block out before it goes away again 5 holes later.

Golf is a very, very frustrating endeavor.

You have to create an extremely consistent routine, from lining up the shot to getting in your stance, all the way through to the end of your swing. Consistency is the key. Do the same thing the range as you do on the course.

Also, hit a bag balls before everytime you play a round. Gets you loose and in that groove before you take that first swing on the course.

  • Here's a question:

Do you think hitting on a shit-ey range can be detrimental for your swing? I actually think I'm having a tougher time hitting off the fairway than I am out of the rough, and I'm starting to believe it is because of the extremely crappy range I go to.

Absolutely, club head speed and having the correct angle are two of the most important things in golf. Here is video that I love, explains it so well.

That very well could be possible, if the rand is more like rough you will have a lot of more practice under those circumstances but another thing to think about is that hitting from the rough reduces ball spin which could actually make you think you're hitting a good ball out of the rough, when in actuality you're hitting the same way as the fairway but you're just getting less ball spin reducing the amount of a draw/hook or slice/fade.

One way I have remedied this is when I am on the range I take my time and try and approach every shot like it is a real shot. Even if you are hitting it well on the range if you are rushing through and not working on your routine it can develop some bad habits.

This, this, this. Routine and consistency are very important. Do the same things on the range as you would do on th course.

Range is definitely more like rough. I find that I'm consistently hitting the ball fat (ground first) in the fairway, whereas (at least feel like) I pick the ball clean from the rough. Hitting a lot of 100 yard irons, regardless of club, while on the course.

  • jshusc- that was happening to me a couple months ago and it eventually turned into an over the top swing. I started slicing the ball really bad and struggled with every club except for the putter(thank god). It turns out it was because at the top, my right hand(left for you, presuming your a righty) was cupped instead of being flat.
