  • Just ordered my new clubs! panic

    Ordered:

    Cobra AMP 3 Wood
    Cobra AMP 5 Wood
    Callaway RAZR X Tours 4-PW
    Cleveland 588 CC 56º Wedge

    Total came out to $1,200.

    Can't wait for them to ship. The Irons and Wedges are shipping on March 8th, and the Woods are shipping on March 15th. I'll be getting them right when it starts getting warm.

  • Whats the quickest way to get better with the driver? Cant hit that thing at all. Dont even use it when I try and play (which is about once a year, probably most of the problem right there). I worked at gym though with a golf simulator and would use that all the time. Always pop up the driver, goes like a hundred yards straight up in the air

    Sounds like your swing is too steep. Experiment with putting the ball in different positions in your stance. You can also tee the ball lower in some instances.

    Impossible to diagnos it without seeing the swing.

    Cleveland are really good wedges but they chew up the ball pretty bad. So does the Vokey though.

    Oh I know the pain. I come down on the ball pretty hard so my Wedges tear the cover off after maybe 2 or 3 hits with the wedges. A lot fun with all of the control you get out of them but pretty annoying with how much money I have to spend on golf balls lol

    Yeah I work my way through quite a few balls in a round. When you are paying $12-15 for a sleeve of balls that can chew up your wallet.

    The Scratch are pretty good about not chewing up balls but still do on occasion.

    I can't play with a cheaper ball either so I just have to deal with it.

    How is it possible the vokey didn't come in LH? Thats crazy if so.

    910 19* with stock shaft
    VR pro combos with PX 6.5
    CG 14 54* and 58*
    putter get rotated between my GSS newport 1 and an older oil can newport 2 I just had refinished. I should throw a pic up, really impressed with the refinish job.

    Plans for the early part of the season is to go aftermarket shaft in the 3wd, 21* nike 3 hybrid w/ aftermarket shaft to replace the current hybrid, and SM4 wedges not sure on the degree yet I've been messing on the trackman to see distances. Know Im dropping the 3 iron and going with 3 wedges, probably 50* 55* 59*.

    I like the idea of dropping the 3 iron and going with 3 wedges. I might do that as well.

    As far as my bag goes:

    R11 with Fujikura shaft
    Callaway Diablo 3
    Callaway Diablo Hybrid 2 iron ( my favorite club in the bag)
    Callaway X-22 tours
    Scratch 53 and 60 wedges
    Oddysey Black Series milled

    Pretty pleased with my set right now. I don't plan any changes right now. Would like to add a third wedge though.

  • I hit the ball pretty low, carry a 4 iron ~ 205 yards. On the trackman I kept getting very similar results with the 3 and 4 iron. I hit my 58* 105, my 54* 120, my pw 145. Adding a wedge in there will be way more useful than the few times I would be at perfect 3 iron yardage and going with the 21* hybrid I should be able to just choke down and make it work. That was my thought process behind the decision at least.

    Its not that they didn't make it, just wasn't in stock. But next step is to get all my clubs fitted and get the right shafts on them all. And I want to buy a 48 degree vokey/588 to replace the PW from the iron set. and buy a new putter, than I will be done for a while. Too much money…………

  • If you are in MI and want to try out all the high end shafts Ive got a place I really like. Extremely $$$ but worth it IMO.

    I am doing it because the short game is the best part of what I do, and having the best grooves and most control from 150 yards and in is the best way to get a low score. Plus I love the Vokey and 588 Wedges.

    I am going to post a picture of my bag when my new clubs come in. Should have them all by mid March. Left handed clubs take longer to get, I have dealt with this for 15 years now lol.

    Can't wait to start doing some local tournaments and make my some of my money back.

    Golf season is still a few months away for me due to weather. But I'm going to have a membership this year for the first time in two years. Looking forward to five or so rounds a week.
