I'm buying a new driver this year. Looking like I might go with the new Taylormade R1 Driver. It's looking it's going to be an amazing driver.

Jumping in here as a former everyday 5 handicapper who's played all over including many great top ten courses in the world. Now too busy for golf. Used to be a fader , righty left to right with great short game. I stopped playing years ago at a bad time when the big head drivers came along. If those fvckers were around in my prime I would have been scratch. Big problems with driver back in the day.

Also played with my dads crappy ass hand me down haig ultras for way too long. Then got my fathers ping eye 2s because I'd rather spend money onother things than golf clubs. Still have those ping eye twos

I'm either getting out today or tomorrow. Just found out there's a course not far from my new apartment in Atlanta that has a decent (and cheap) 18 hole course as well as lighted driving ranges. It even has a lighted par 3 course.

What made you go with that?

So I demoed a Cobra AMP Cell Pro driver today, 7.5° loft, stiff shaft with a low-mid kick point. Holy crap, it's like God called down to me and said, "Here, my child. The driver you've been yearning for."

See, I have a Titleist 910D2 right now, regular shaft, 9.5° loft (my dad's old driver). Before that I had my own TaylorMade Burner, stiff shaft, 9.5° loft. I hit both sky high and it was really leaching distance off of my drives. This Cobra, though, alleviated all of those issues. And I'm usually one to say it's not the equipment, it's you (especially for a guy still getting his bearings for the game), but this was a money club. I'm going to get the course tomorrow with it and see if I still like it. If I do, I'll be purchasing. My game off the tee has been just atrocious for a while now, mainly due to hitting the ball just crazy high. I think even you recommended earlier ITT I try a lower kick-point shaft. Worked wonders for me today.

I have the AMP Cell driver. But not the pro version. They didn't have it in left handed. Fantastic club. Extremely happy with the purchase. Can't wait for it to get warm out so I cab start getting out on the course.
