tBB Golf Thread: Our Balls Really Fly

When I lived in Florida next to God's waiting room, they had a lot of senior par 3's.... like the long ones were 150. I have lived in Illinois for almost 5 years now and I have only played once here. I even carried my clubs in my truck all summer and never had the time to take them out. I could see adding a 2 Iron or 4 or 5 wood to the bag and a 5 iron for your long 3's

I started playing golf on Par 3 courses, but haven't played one in years. It probably explains why I can't hit a driver straight right now and use only irons during a round.

I went through that phase as well. I am really just now getting back to hitting my driver like I used to.

  • Hey folks, played the Nike 20xi-x and 20xi-s today.

    I was wrong.

When I wrote the "review" about I had only played a couple holes and I went bogey-bogey so I wasn't too impressed.

But today, I played 18 and I shot a 76 which is an "average" round according to my hdcp.

    These balls go FAR.

    The 20xi-s spins.

Really like the balls, but the only problem is they feel weird coming off the putter.

    Still a Penta guy though

  • Hey, I was also wondering, do you guys gain distance when it is hot out?

Is it just a myth that you gain distance in heat or what?

Not a myth. You can gain a good amount of distance in the heat.

Yeah, I was just curious because I've gained about 10 yards since it got 80+ here

  • Still waiting for a good weekend to go golfing here in Michigan. Really started to get my game going good last summer. Had my handicap down to a 2.1.

Plan on buying a new 3, 5 wood, and a 56 and 52 degree Vokey wedge to finish out my bag.

    My bag includes.
    King Cobra S91-F 9.5º
Going to be getting King Cobra S91-F 3 and 5 wood. I love the feel of their woods.
    Callaway X-22 Irons.
Titliest Vokey 54º, 60º with a 52º and a 56º on their way to complete my wedge set.
Old putter that I'll never replace, love it too much.

Titliest ProV1 are the balls I use.

    I'm also left handed.

  • I played in a tournament today. My team placed second. We left about 6 birdies on the course so I am a little bummed about it.

I love my X-22s, you get great distance off of them. But you also get amazing control, so easy to work the golf ball with those irons. I don't why, but I never could get used to Taylormade drivers ever since I started using Cobra. I started with Cobra F speed driver and fell in love, than I got the S91-F driver. I'm on year 5 of using Cobra Woods.

Don't think I'm ever going to switch.

I haven't really played Cobra. I have tried just about everything else thought it seems. I have always played Callaway for the most part. I just decided to try the Burner Superfast last summer and I am crushing the ball with it.

Between the wind we have today and my driver slice if I went today I could be reasonably assured of a concussion from my own ball.

I'm a lefty too and I'm damn sick of walking into proshops, golf stores, etc. and seeing very little, if any, selection of lefty stuff.

Just pisses me off SO much

I have been thinking about getting this club as well. You will have to let us know what you think about it once you get a chance to test it out.

Oh, I know the pain. Golf Smith usually has a large selection of demo clubs in left-handed form, which is where I do all my testing before I buy anything. But than after that, I have to buy nearly everything on the internet. But I think that works out better in the end, I end up finding the better prices that way.

Drivers and putters are really the only thing I can buy in a store.
