Cuts both ways, but you have to look at the match-ups. Figure Bama's young secondary should help out UM's passing O, which really needs to take a step forward from last season. UM's best shot is to have Denard pull an ND and have 300+ yards of total O and push UM's point totals into the 20s.
Bama hasn't had much (any?) experience defending a QB like Robinson. When dealing with a hyper-aggressive front 7, UM's read-option could be a very potent weapon; I like the roll-out option to throw/run where Denard looks like he's going to take off then flips the ball to a WR half a foot behind the LOS. As fast as Bama's LBs are, they're not as fast as Denard; if he can get out of the pocket on the run, he can freeze the young DBs as they're forced to decide between supporting the run or the pass and really give Bama fits.
I think UM's OL will be the key to their victory; their starting 5 is going to be very good. As long as they don't get too confused by the 3-4 (and given UM's base D, the 3-4 isn't THAT foreign of a concept), they can hold their own.
Final thought: can UM's WRs make plays? I know Roundtree can be a force in the slot, but asking him to play flanker may not be utilizing his talents fully. Really need Robinson (Jerald) or another physical WR to step up and round out the ground. Really like Gallon in the slot.

Michigan dudes: how large is your starting D? I ask because wheb we play smaller teams 99% of the time they literally cannot tackle our guys in the 4th because we're to big and strong. LSU is the only exception I have seen
Note: this isnt a flame attempt.

Michigan will run a five man front if necessary to stop the run. Bama needs to be able to pass somewhat successfully. I am not saying they can't, but who knows what can happen in an opener when a team is forced to throw the ball more than normal. A couple of bad passes that result in picks or just the timing being slightly off between the QB and the WRs resulting in stalled drives. If UM can keep the game to 20 points or less, we have a chance.

Denard is much more of a threat in the pocket in my opinion, he is a constant threat to pass and run if he is in the pocket, if he rolls out Bama's defense will attack and force him to make bad decisions. I get the feel that Michigan will attack with the running game at first, then show some new wrinkles in the offense and go off what is more successful. Gallon needs to step up to help Denard though.
