  • I wouldn't take that article seriously...sounds like they are getting some feelers out there to see the reactions and the impact it would have on their sales and the gaming market

    sony's not stupid, they won't go down that road...hell they lost out on money from every PS3 sold for the first couple years the first time and this would just kill them and their loyal supporters worldwide would switch to another console

    There was a similar article about a month ago involving the Xbox.

    Sounds like both are considering it.

    it's going to cause a huge change in the gaming market and people will not buy as many units and/or games

    sales will drop for both companies and I'm not sure how much more profit losses Sony can take in the gaming market...developers are pushing for it because of piracy

    Agreed. I generally get most of my RPGs on PC anyway for additional content but this would just make it so I only ever buy NCAA Football and an FPS on console.

    the amount of people and businesses it will affect is the real issue here...of course it won't affect some but most people who do business in renting/selling used games or those who buy used games and/or rent

  • How much of GameStop's yearly revenue is made from used games as opposed to new titles? This could be a crippling blow to them and others like Replays. Stores like Best Buy would be the big winners IMO.

    My guess: a lot. They rake in titles. Buy a game there $60..15 days later trade it in for $25. Two days later they sell it again for $45.

    Neither do I but the system they are talking about implementing would prevent people from even borrowing games from one another. It is the principle of the matter for me.

    Doesnt bother me that much. I dont borrow games, and unfortunately I dont have much time to play them anymore. So that would pretty much limit the titles I play anyways.

  • i will wait till they change and work out the problems. after the first three PS3s i had burn up on me i finaly got the 360 and still have it. by then they will be 100-300 under where they started at. and backwards compatable.

    How in gods name did you burn throug three ps3s? Do you live in the Sahara with no AC? Have it in an enclosed air tight cabinet? Sitting on the stove?

    i duno man, for real though. the Best Buy was tired of me. it was when they first came out in late 06 early 07. the big ones.

    Weird. I went through 5 XBOX's(one was my fault), and said screw it and got a PS3. Had it for around 2 years with no problems whatsoever.
