I'm not advocating that this site is the be all end all as it has an agenda, but I simply post it for review:
"Florida Spends Millions Extra per Year on Death Penalty
Florida would save $51 million each year by punishing all first-degree murderers with life in prison without parole, according to estimates by the Palm Beach Post. Based on the 44 executions Florida has carried out since 1976, that amounts to an approximate cost of $24 million for each execution. This finding takes into account the relatively few inmates who are actually executed, as well as the time and effort expended on capital defendants who are tried but convicted of a lesser murder charge, and those whose death sentences are overturned on appeal. ("The High Price of Killing Killers," Palm Beach Post, January 4, 2000)
Florida Spent Average of $3.2 Million per Execution from 1973 to 1988
During that time period, Florida spent an estimated $57 million on the death penalty to achieve 18 executions. ("Bottom Line: Life in Prison One-Sixth as Expensive," Miami Herald, July 10, 1988) "

You're sure about that huh? The will to live is amazing, what people do and live through just to stay alize is astounding. Sure, you have quitters out there, but even they fight and want to live before hitting their breaking point.
Think about this, we think that life would be shit, who would want to live like that. Sitting in a cell everyday for the rest of their live. What you are failing to see is that is all they know. They aren't free, they have adapted to living in those conditions. They aren't like us who can go where we want when we want. We think it is shit because we have freedom, but they aren't looking at it the same way.
As stated, they want to live. You don't see guys with multiple life sentences with No chance of parole lining up to be put down. They want to live, even if it is in conditions less than ideal.

Obviously there are distinctions and I think that's your point between killing versus the death penalty. Like I said, I support the death penalty, but I still get hung up on exactly what I've been saying throughout this thread.

Whenever someone confesses like she did they should go from the courtroom straight to execution no waiting, no appeals, nothing. The cost of execution is so high because of appeals and things like that. There should be no opportunity for appeal.

I kinda agree, kinda don't. I mean this girl is fvcked in the head, but she committed the crime when she was 15. I just don't really think a 15 year old FULLY understands the consequences of their actions. She obviously knew it was bad, but did she really get it?
The other side she lured this girl for no reason and killed her, buried her, and wrote disturbing things in her journal bragging about it. She clearly is psychopath, the odds of her ever being rehabbed is pretty much zilch so might as well get it over with.

She knew exactly what was happening. 15 is not young enough to not know what she was getting herself into. I mean seriously, 15 means she was probably a freshman maybe sophomore in HS, there is no way she didn't fully understand what she was getting herself into. Being a minor is not an excuse for something like that. She pre-dug a grave, planned having her sister lure her out, and then murdered her. She knew exactly what she was doing. This girl is so messed up in the head there is no getting better.
