what does everyone think of South Carolina this year

  • I have a hard time figuring out how good they are gonna be.
I'm guessing 3rd in the east.
They have only had 2 seasons in the last 10 years that they've lost less then 5 games.

its going to be interesting to see this offense with Lattimore coming back and Conner Shaw not looking over his shoulder.

  • should be either 2 or 3 in the EAST ...really good team but not a great team unless Lattimore comes back with a vengence

We are going to be okay. We lost a few good players, but have a lot of good ones back. If Lattimore comes back strong then look out

  • Thy have a pretty brutal 4 week stretch. UGA, @LSU, @UF, and Tenn.

If they can even manage going 2-2, which is very possible, I think they finish no worse than 2nd in the East.

The UF/Tenn gms will be interesting. Coming off an away gm @LSU, for UF, and after the Tenn gm there's a bye week then Arky (home gm). Spurrier will have them focused though, imo.

  • Wonder if Spurrier is stupidly going to give the ball to Lattimore the ball 35+ times a game like his Freshmen year. Definitely hurting his draft stock.

  • If he had another reliable and consistent weapon he'd use them too.

That being said, I don't think Spurrier gives two shits about the Lattimore's draft stock.

  • Schedule wise I think Georgia or South Carolina should win the East.

I think if Florida's offense comes around we'll be hard to beat.

Our defense is pretty good, needs to get better at creating turnovers.

Our 2010 class that was in the top 3(maybe #1) are now Jr's and RSO.

If Brent Pease can bring some of that Boise State offense to Florida with our young but talented QB's, the SEC East better watch out.

People are sleeping on Florida and i don't blame them. This team has the talent to win 10 games, but they could follow the past couple seasons and only win 7-8.

Yep, sure did. Lattimore is lucky to even get drafted. How the kid can even walk is a miracle.

That is crap and yes Spurrier does care about Lattimore. We have other RB's and that was proven last year. Now you can throw Mike Davis into the mix as well.

  • They are NOT as good 1-22 as Georgia. But, Georgia goes to Columbia after back to back games with Vandy and Tennessee. If USCe wants to win that game their DL will have to get sacks and pressures. Clowney will need 2 sacks and either a FF or a clear forced interception.

    1. UGA
    2. USCe
    3. UF
    4. Tenn
    5. Mizzou
    6. Vandy
    7. Kentucky

In their complete seasons as the sole #1 option:

    Trent Richardson carries in 2011 - 283

    Marcus Lattimore carries in 2010 - 249

    Definitely a draft stock killer.

    Couple more for good measure:

Mark Ingram his Heisman year - 271 carries

Adrian Peterson his 1 complete season (freshman year) - 339

technically, it's only 1 season in last 10.

but their last 2 years have been pretty good (even the 9-5 one, they won east)

    1. 2002 South Carolina (5-7-0)--0.41667 (18.75-21.83) (78-64-0)--0.54930

USC has better OL and DL than Georgia, but UGA has (much) easier schedule

With Lattimore back 100%, USC will be favored to win when they play each other.

Gamecocks are 6-0 against UGA, Tennessee, and Florida the past two years.

And also 3-0 in last three against Clemson.

Recruiting better than ever, with millions going into infrastructure improvements (numerous stadium and facilities upgrades).

With Spurrier Era in full effect there is different football mentality in Columbia. We now expect to win games.

Obviously I'm biased. But trying to be fair here, I'd set the odds for winning the East at:

    UGA - 45%
    USC - 35%.
    Field - 20%

  • I would actually say USCe has a better shot at winning the east than Steven Garcia has at sobriety

You have a point...some players though are injury prone, and is has nothing to do with that player as an athelete, things happen and seems to happen to some more often. Trent was never injury prone, and maybe Lattimores was just a freak accident. But just like Prothro, Lattimore should not have been in the position he was in during that game. But good luck in the East, i still think yall win it while UGA tries to find their offense early
