How did this thread become about the great suburbs of Detroit. The city is a dumpster fire. The closest suburb to Detroit I'd live in is Columbus.

Yup. Detroit sucks. There's a few nice areas, like around comerica and ford field, but other than that I wouldn't go there.
Detroit doesn't define the state though. There are tons of golf courses/natural beauty in the state. Something Ohio doesn't have.

MI people do like Detroit. The good parts, the casino, greektown, restaurants, and all the sports stadiums. That's the good area, and it's a lot of fun. The rest of it is a POS for sure. They're trying to change what they can, but it is difficult.

Greek Town, Fox Town, and Slow's in Cork Town. Anywhere else I stay the hell out of. But my point remains no one lives in Detroit. The people who the nation sees as "Detroiters" live in the suburbs around Detroit. The Oakland county suburbs are by and large nice, and probably a lot nicer than where a lot of southerners ITT live. Downriver is trash.
