How difficult or easy was it to name Davis No. 1? What does he bring to the table that put him at the top of the list?

Thinking long-term, it was pretty easy. He's not only an elite player but now has improved at such a steep trajectory, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he becomes the No. 1 pick in the draft someday.
His size, graceful athleticism and complement of skills make him about as close to a sure thing as you can have. I don't view him as the kind of player to step in and dominate immediately, but three-four years from now I think he'll be playing terrific basketball at the highest level.

One question, how do you have Zach Price ranked 61st? Everyone I've talked to here around Louisville says he's not that good. I never took the time to go see him play, but everyone I've talked to that's seen him doesn't think too highly of him.

Opinions on him do vary, but I think he'll be a productive four-year center for them. He just doesn't have the kind of game (speed, explosive leaping ability) that will shine consistently in high school, but there's a payoff with guys like that once they play in a college system with attentive guards.
Big guys tend to be more difficult to evaluate generally precisely for that reason. Sometimes, kids who are productive on the travel circuit suddenly blossom in college, and in other cases they remain unproductive. You never know!

Rivers should be #1. Literally have no dog in that fight, but he's by far the best in '11 in my opinion.

I love Gilchrist's athleticism (truly superb body control) and think he'll be among the nation's very best transition scorers next season. He also rebounds, passes well and competes ferociously.
Of course, Rivers possesses many of those same qualities and is a deadly perimeter shooter. The primary reason I don't have Rivers No. 1 — and I concede up front I very well may live to regret not having him there — is that he's something of an undersized wing, and lately some of the most hyped guys fitting that description have struggled relative to reputation.
I don't think Austin will suffer as others have because he has such a quick first step, but I did hedge my bets slightly for that reason.

Very good to have Rob on the board answering questions about the rankings. Hopefully, it will be a regular occurrence. For day one, I'd say we're off to a great start! Again, we'll have the full 247 on Monday and then team rankings a few weeks afterward.
