Westwind Prep in Phoenix, AZ is quickly becoming one of the premier basketball teams on the west coast for the prep ranks and a main reason is because of DeMarquise Johnson. Johnson is a 6-foot-5 small forward for the 2012 class and has seen college programs throw their hat into the ring to land the talented wing.
With offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Oregon State, San Diego State, Virginia and Washington State Johnson already has a solid list of colleges.
"Right now I am simply focused on getting better this AAU season and then later in the recruiting process I'll start nailing things down," said Johnson.
"Right now Gonzaga, Oregon State, and Washington State are the three schools who recruit me the hardest. I have had all three of the schools come by recently to watch me workout and practice. Washington was also just here as well to see me and are close to making an offer."
Johnson claims no favorites between his offer list but does say having Gonzaga, Oregon State, and Washington State recruiting him hard makes them stand out a little more than the rest.
Johnson says college programs like him at the small forward spot because he can hit the jumper from outside but is also able to play near the rim due to his athletic ability.
Johnson also hears from Arizona, Georgetown, Kansas, Pepperdine, Saint Mary's and UCLA.
