That's what I would like to know as well.
Got to be UK right?
Maryland or UK
Our staff is flying down for another in-home tomorrow (our 4th visit in the past month). Know one really seems to know, both sides are cautiously optimistic at the moment
Last ditch effort to change their minds.
Good luck either way.
Keep Calm & Stoops On..
I thought last week was the last-ditch effort to change their minds?
Going to Under Armor, I mean Maryland.
That is what they are now.
I mean the Dad said he changed there phone numbers and the only person that had the number was an Under Armor rep.
They changed their phone numbers. They UA rep that organizes their AAU schedule and whatnot needed to speak to them so he got the number. Then a week later when Calipari and Turgeon asked for the new number they got it.
They are on an Under Armour AAU team and going to an UA school. Not hating on Maryland just way it is.
Gary Parrish had a very good show about this yesterday.
If they go to Maryland, it'll be because Daddy doesn't want to piss Under Armor off.. which is kinda stupid, IMO. Even if they go to UK, they'll STILL be able to sign with Under Armor after they leave school. In all honesty, if they're smart they go to UK, where they can market their brand, win a (possible) championship, and go in the top 5. What does Maryland give them? Being the big fish in a small pond ? Under Armor money?
*note* YES, I'm biased. I'm a Kentucky fan. It makes more sense to ME for them to go to Kentucky. Either way.. we'll see tomorrow.
If you write an entire article on this recruitment and don't mention Mark Turgeon and Bino Ranson you don't know what you are talking about and just went for the cheap/easy headline grab with the shoe story.
Plain and simple. Obviously UA is a factor but its not remotely close to the only one and people are blowing it way out of proportion. See Telep and Evan Daniels twitter accounts today for some solid points on that.
"If they go to Maryland, it'll be because Daddy doesn't want to piss Under Armor off.. which is kinda stupid, IMO."
-Pure conjecture based on nothing
"Even if they go to UK, they'll STILL be able to sign with Under Armor after they leave school."
-No, UK people continue to bring this up but its just not happening. They are not signing with UA if they got to UK, period.
"where they can market their brand, win a (possible) championship, and go in the top 5."
-They can't do those things at Maryland? Obviously Cal has the track record but that doesn't mean the twins think they can't accomplish all that stuff out of Maryland as well.
"What does Maryland give them? Being the big fish in a small pond ? Under Armor money?"
-Small pond? LOL. They would be playing in front of 18,000 people in a top 5(ish?) media market, in the most "historic" conference, for a program that had a more recent national title then UK up until this past April.
The point is UK fans really overrate stuff like "exposure" and "winning a championship". The decision is a lot more complex then that.
Yeah.. we over rate those things. Guess it's better to disagree than getting into a pissing match with you. I'd wish you luck, but think they're coming to UK. So have a good day.
and if UA wouldn't sign them after the leave UK, they're pure idiots. You can guaran-damn-tee Nike or Reebok will jump on them. Just think that's dumb. JMO. (It matters little to nothing, I know.)
