I wonder if this will cause the release of Jonathan Holton from his commitment to FIU. Dude can play, even though he has a taste for certain frowned upon behaviors.
mkillian247 on twitter..... I say a lot of stuff you wont care about.
Yeah. I see it going one of two ways. Either he fails miserably and is fired in about 4 years or he brings some life into the Minnesota program, ends up winning games, and gets people in the Twin Cities excited about Gopher basketball, only to bolt for a better job when he gets the opportunity.
You'd think Minnesota should be a better job. Huge school without an in-state rival and with a very sizeable endowment and a decently sized athletic budget in a relatively large metro area and in one of the most visible conferences.
Then you realize that it doesn't have a basketball practice facility.
Yeah it probably should be better, but I think part of the issue is I get the feeling that the Gophers get lost in the shuffle of being in a large metro area that is predominantly into pro sports. I think this gets the fan base gets apathetic. A lot of good players from that state have left home in both football and basketball, so much so that many programs in the midwest almost consider Minnesota to be an extension of their in state recruiting.
