I would say not quite jamie dixon/bo ryan level of march fail yet, but I doubt he will ever get the talent he had the past three years Johnson/Moore/hummel and never got past the sweet sixteen IIRC.

yea its crazy with the team his has had he hasnt got past the sweet 16. I know with hummel hurt it hurt them, but they still had enough talent to go further than they did.

Also just because I acted like an ass on tmb doesn't mean I'm a total ass on my board and others. I just hated that place and loved to piss them off.

What has Crean done at Indiana to suggest otherwise? One of the signs of a good coach is when he can make less than stellar talent play above their presumed/expected level of achievement. I haven't seen that at all from Crean thus far. At one point in time, most Michigan State fans had Crean at the absolute top of their wish list if Izzo ever left. That is definitely not the case anymore and the reasons for that are his meager at best coaching accomplishments since the Dwyane Wade-induced 2002 season.

If Hummel played this year Purdue would have no doubt made the sweet 16. Final four team IMO (well of course this year no one could predict what would happen)

If you are suggesting Painter is a better recruiter you are way off base. Painter had a full year in advance to recruit his great class as coach in waiting. He has not delivered much after that. Purdue had an opportunity to farther distance it's self from IU by following up his exceptional class with more outstanding talent and from the looks of things he failed to do so. Crean had a high school JV team his 1st year. So his first priority was to fill out a roster which he did. I have questioned his players will and heart but to a man they have been outmatched with a complete lack of post players. Not to mention that Creek biggest recruit for Crean before Zeller has had two serious knee injuries the past two years. I think if you were to check out IU's recruits through 2014 you would not suggest that he has been unable to recruit. He took over a program rebuilding effort that has never been seen on the college level. IMO.

Crean s a better recruiter by far. I think he is a better coach as well. He took on a mess and his teams have gotten better each year.

In reference to the "his teams have gotten better each year". Sarcasm, but hard to pick up over a message board. Apologies. Obviously comparing what Crean is doing with Indiana to RichRod at Michigan is night and day.

Right now it is all speculation. What hasppens from this point in time starting with the 2011-2012 basketball season will prove on the playing floor that Crean is a better Coach and recruiter than pork chop!!
