North Carolina guard Leslie McDonald suffered a torn ACL

  • So pissed at this. Leslie was looking really good in the Pro Am and I was expecting a big year from him.

    Its not a huge loss though, PJ Hairston and Reggie Bullock will just get more playing time and both should be able to fill in for Leslie.

    It is a huge loss. PJ, while talented is still a freshman, and Bullock is coming off a knee issue himself. Also 3 point shooting is a weak area for the team, he was one of our better shooters. I still think we're the favorite, but it's a big loss.

    ESPN said he MAY miss this season. Have you guys heard anything other than that?

    No, haven't heard anything else. I am assuming once he has surgery and starts rehabbing then they will know more about a timetable. I doubt he comes back this year, but if he is a fast healer then maybe he can make it back by the end of the year. I think it also depends on how well PJ Hairston and Reggie Bullock are playing. If one of those guys can fill in for Leslie like I think they can then there is no reason for Leslie to waste a year of eligibility.

  • I don't think this is a huge loss. I mean, you don't wish for things like this to happen, but I think Bullock and Hairston are superior talents. Hairston is the second-most impressive freshman perimeter shooter in this class behind Beal, IMO. UNC will be fine. Still the #2 team peace

  • Leslie had surgery on Aug 3 and from all accounts things went well. I haven't heard a timetable, but they haven't ruled him out for the season yet.
