I hate every B1G team except one.

Since your team was the last b1g to win a title in any of the big 3, 10 years ago, and I don't have your posting history from 12 years ago when the last title in those sports was won by a b1g team other than tOSU(Michigan St), I guess we'll have to take your word for it.

I agree though that it is irrational for people to want to see their conference continue to get stronger. Why would anyone want that? Unless, of course someone wants to be able to dominate a weak conference that doesn't prepare them to compete at the highest level only to get stomped everytime they do so.

I'd rather root for my team and lose than root for someone else and win.

How many NCs has your team won in football or basketball?

Oh wait, you're leaching off of others success.

Don't forget to floss that tooth.

Yes, but they are definitely carrying their weight with the last 2 National Titles in baseball.

You know, tOSU should really try winning a National Championship again sometime. Half of the SEC has won one since tOSU won their last in a major sport.

And you must root for someone else's basketball program.

To each his own I guess.

Yep. Different teams in different sports. Must get expensive for you buying all that gear from other schools depending on the season.

    11 of 18 in the big 3.

Yeah. I just did the math wondering...

The SEC has won 12 of the last 19 in the three major sports. That's pretty crazy and deserving of praise no matter where you are from, and who one roots for.

I respect Florida for what they have accomplished because they win and/or compete at a high level in all the major sports.

UK winning the NC in basketball doesn't equate to the SEC being a good basketball conference.

It is pretty crazy. I do admit that even though I do support my conference before those in other conferences, with a couple of exceptions (Penn St and USC), I would rather see equality across the board.

I know this will never be the case in baseball, mainly due to weather. The SEC, Texas teams, and the PAC12 will always have better programs for the most part due to that reason.

In football, I feel we are very close to having 3 conferences at a very high level, with the SEC, B1G, and PAC12. With Michigan's return and Urbs in Columbus, there should be 2 elite teams in the B1G for the next 5-10 years or so. Add a much stronger Michigan St than anytime since the 60's and a team like Wisconsin, and that league is in very good shape, especially if Penn St gets back to an elite level. Also, the PAC12 will benefit greatly from the compeition between USC, Stanford, and Oregon (maybe Washington as well) which should trickle down a little bit to the Cal's and maybe one of the Arizona schools as well.

In basketball, I think we have a great spread of talent along the leagues. The B1G and Big East are definitely leading the way with depth, but with Syracuse and Pitt heading to the ACC, I would think the ACC will return to their thrown as the top league again soon. The SEC has Kentucky, Florida, and Vandy that have been at a high level (although Vandy pukes on themselves come tournament time). Hopefully Mike Anderson can get Arkansas back up and along with the addition of Missouri and the improvements at Alabama, the league could get back to having 6+ strong teams each year hopefully. The Big12 is solid in basketball, but losing Mizzou could hurt a little bit. The league needs Oklahoma St to return to the level that they were at in the previous couple of decades.

Only when all the conference are strong or closer to equal will a sport like football have the tournament feel to the regular season that makes it great on the national level.

  • The SEC deserves a ton of credit. Their recent record is flat out amazing.

With that being said I dont' understand why an Arkansas fan would be excited for the conference winning a national championship in basketball. Unless unknown by me they give every team in the conference a trophy or something.

    shaunsimpson

  • The argument against rooting for your conference is dumb. When the SEC wins a championship, the SEC makes money. When the SEC makes money, its schools make money. So devidee and the rest of you that dont like that we pull for each other, yall dont like making money? Thats dumb.

    No they give them money.

  • Sorry. Don't buy it. Football bowl games are what you play in and not what you win. Most of those are slotted. Basketball is done on a game Played basis and the dollar amounts are very small per team per game played.
