What player from your team are you looking forward to seeing?

  • From IU it will be Maurice Creek. Hopefully he can come back healthy and be a big asset to the team. If he can show what he did before he got hurt his freshman year he will be a great player for IU this year.

OldOaken247 on twitter..... I say a lot of stuff you wont care about.

  • Mo Creek is amazing it was a shame he got injured.

for Maryland we only got 9 scholarship players but last year freshman Terrell Stoglin became the best player on the team later in the season. I'm looking forward to see how many points he puts up considering we have no front court.

  • I'm interested in seeing how good Barnes is going to be this year as well as McAdoo, Hairston, and Bullock. One thing we lacked last year was consistent 3 point shooting and hopefully a healthy Bullock and Hairston can provide that.

  • Clemson transfer Noel Johnson.he was a top 50 player coming out of high school and never really did much at Clemson. He is a good shooter and i think he will make a impaact his first year at Auburn.

  • Jonathan Holmes and Kevin Thomas for Texas.

Texas returns only 3 players, two back-up posts, and J'covan Brown. Neither Wangmene nor Chapman, the returning interior players, have produced much through 3 playing seasons and a redshirt each. Texas's other recruits (Kabongo, McClellan, Lewis, Gibbs) are better known commodities and provide something almost akin to a reasonable level of depth on the perimeter. Holmes played against lesser competition as a HSer but looked very impressive in 2010 summer play. He and Thomas were both late bloomers in the rankings. Texas has no other players over 6'5" who could return for 2012-13, though Ridley has committed.

Holmes and Thomas are going to have to grow up in a hurry. I'm really curious to see how they'll perform early in the year before they have to try to help out against UCLA (with Josh Smith), possibly Vanderbilt (with Festus Ezeli and a lot of size to go with him), and later take on UNC (Henson, Zeller).

  • Brandon Dawson for Michigan State. I'm interested to see how many minutes he gets and what type of offensive game he has, I know what were going to get with the rebounding but i wonder what he's going to bring to the table scoring wise.

Einstein, I thought you'd be fascinated by the prospect of Jurick thundering up and down the floor in Ford's promised racehorse attack.

  • PG Travis Trice for MSU. He won the Gatorade Player of the Year in Ohio this year (albeit a down year for Ohio). Izzo is really high on him and expects great things from him his freshman year.

  • Austin Rivers of Duke.

Trey Burke and Carlton Brundidge of Michigan.

  • This is a tough one, but I'll go with Mike Gilchrist. The kid already has an NBA body and he's supposedly really competitive and mentally tough. I'm curious to see if it will be enough to unseat Darius Miller in the starting lineup, who should also be ready to finally play consistently up to his talent level and be a senior leader.

I saw on the topics page that "TheInstiGATOR" was the last to post in this thread, and I immediately said to myself, "Brad Beal" -- haha. Definitely an easy prediction. I like the kid, though. He seems like a more athletic Doron Lamb, which is pretty sick. The SEC All-Freshman team next year will be nuts. My guess:

    PG: Marquis Teague, UK
    SG: Brad Beal, UF
    SF: Mike Gilchrist, UK
    PF: Anthony Davis, UK
PF: Kyle Wiltjer, UK (last spot was kind of tough, but he's the second-best freshman big in the SEC behind Davis. He won't start, but he'll get good enough run to make the All-Freshman squad)

Damn I kind of forgot how good UK was going to be next year. Now seeing your post it reminded me.

My SEC who I want to see list might be more like this:

    PG: Teague, UK
    SG: Lacey, UAL
    W: Beal, UF
    PF: Davis, UK
    C: O'Bryant, LSU

It is tough to leave Gilchrist off this list, but Beal will likely play the wing this season at UF and Lacey could be a very important player for UAL. Additionally O'Bryant could be a make or break player for this LSU coach.

And heck for a second team looking forward to see in the SEC how about:

    PG: Young, UAR
    SG: Caldwell-Pope, UGa
    W: Gilchrist, UK
    PF: Hood, Mississippi State
    C: Wiltjer, UK

Lots of talent coming into the league this year.

Additionally, I am very interested to see what position UF signee Pitchford plays and how he measures up compared to other players at UF.

  • For Arizona, I'm most looking forward to seeing Nick Johnson play although Josiah Turner will be a close second. Johnson arrived on campus on June 5. He's been lifting and shooting daily while taking classes. As highly touted as he was, he has a serious chip on his shoulder and that's always a good thing for an elite athlete.

I considered Trevor Lacey, but Alabama plays such a rugged style, I think he might struggle to put up big offensive numbers as a freshman.

I kind of forgot about Johnny O'Bryant for LSU. He could definitely end up replacing Wiltjer on this list. A lot depends on how many minutes Wiltjer plays. If he gets 20+ minutes per game (which I think he will), then I think he will be pretty productive.

Beware of leaving Gilchrist off your list, though! That kid is damn good. For all we know, he could be the SEC POY. So could Beal, for that matter.

  • With Terrence Jones and Anthony Davis both likely to get 30+ minutes a game and Eloy Vargas getting some time, how is Wiltjer going to get 20? You planning on every game going into 2OT?

Wiltjer will play a lot more than Vargas. I don't think T. Jones will be able to log 30+ minutes per game, either, due to fouls. I see Jones and Davis getting between 25-30 minutes per, Wiltjer will get around 20, and Vargas will get the scraps. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wiltjer log more minutes some games than Jones and Davis.

Daniel Orton averaged 13 minutes per game behind Patterson and Cousins, and I think Wiltjer is a lot more polished than Orton. Wiltjer is good, and he's ready to contribute right away. I don't see him warming the bench. In fact, all three of them could play at the same time with Jones sliding to the 3, but that probably won't happen much (if at all) since we have Miller and Gilchrist at the 3.

I didn't know Sully has dropped 20 lbs. Good for him. His vulnerability last season was probably the other team's big man (if he could run) beating him down the floor in transition. And Sully is big enough that 20 lbs shouldn't affect his strength on the block.

He has been working hard... he said he has lost 15 so far and is looking for a total of 20. Putting in a ton of work on his face up game and dribbling. That is why Amir Williams not being in on time to work sucks.

I'm a big Memphis Grizzlies fan, and Sullinger reminds me of Zach Randolph. Sully needs to get him some Z-Bo tape from this year's playoffs and take a good, long look.
