Best Coaches With No Final Fours

We look at 30 of college basketball's best coaches who have yet to reach a Final Four, including Baylor's Scott Drew, Arizona's Sean Miller and Wisconsin's Bo Ryan.

  • Mike Brey is a great coach, but he will never have the talent at ND to get to a Final Four.

  • South Carolina basketball...in the Final Four before Alabama? Seriously? Carolina is the worst program in the conference. Martin has an incredible task ahead of him.

Arguing whether South Carolina or Alabama has a better shot at the Final Four is like arguing whether Ron Paul or Herman Cain has a better shot at winning the presidency.

  • I'd put Mark Turgeon ahead of every coach on the ACC list. He's coaching at a great place to win and his first recruiting class was impressive. Also been to final fours as an assistant. More accomplished than Bennett, Gottfried, and Leonard Hamilton who is getting pretty old.

The Colonial Life arena is impressive and the fan support is good when they win. Their history is pretty bad for some reason.

  • LOL at no Turgeon, especially with turds like Groce, Travis Ford and Dawkins on there.

Id put Turgeon right there with that top 5, hes just starting from a bit further back in terms of having to rebuild a program he just took over.

  • Brey will not only make a final four but he'll get to a championship game. He's drwing more and better talent to South Bend every year and the team ball concept will eventually hold up and take a team to the final four. At some point some exceptional talent will come to and stay at ND and make the difference in a title run. Once there who knows. can't wait to see it.

  • Success in basketball, more than any other sport, comes down to getting that one GREAT player. If you can consistantly get that great player, and then fill in with decent role players, you can win a championship. Name the last team to win a NC without an NBA lottery pick. You can win with a system in football, not in basketball.

  • I mean anyone can make a run one year but I dont know how or why people continue to overrate Brey. Hes been at Notre Dame for 12 years and is 53 years old now. Hes won 25 games or more only twice in his career and hes made a whopping one sweet sixteen. Hes not some bright up and comer who is just getting things going at his program.

He gets the same type of talent in there every year. Nothing is going to drastically change at this point in terms of how and who they recruit. They will always be a solid to very good team and sure if one year breaks right they could make a Final Four run but Im certainly not expecting it.

  • ND is going to the final four this year and they will start their run by pounding UK at home this November.
